Microsoft for Startups Investor Offer application stuck in investor verification for 8 months

Hello,

I applied to the Microsoft for Startups Investor Offer for my startup, NeuroGrid Labs, using a referral code from my investor.

In early March 2026, I received an email titled "Update on your Microsoft for Startups application" saying my application was being reviewed and that the team was verifying my information with my investor.

Since then, I have not received any decision, approval, rejection, or request for more information. That was about 8 months ago. My investor has confirmed that Microsoft never contacted him to verify my affiliation.

When I sign in at startups.microsoft.com now, it redirects me to the Azure portal welcome page, which shows no subscription at all.

My questions:

  1. Can someone check the status of my pending application and tell me what is blocking it?
  2. Should my investor contact Microsoft directly to confirm my affiliation, and if so, through which channel?
  3. If the application can't be recovered, should I delete it and reapply with the same referral code?

I can share my application email and other details privately if needed.

Thank you.

Microsoft for Startups Program Support should investigate the eight-month pending application before it is deleted or resubmitted, because application status, verification, portal access, and reapplication are explicitly within that team’s scope.^1^

    Request an application-status review

    1. Sign in to the Azure portal with the same personal Microsoft account used for the application.
    2. Open the Microsoft for Startups Program Overview page.
    3. On Overview, find Your Microsoft Team and select Get program support.
    4. Choose the closest category under Program & Onboarding or Verification & Compliance.
    5. Include:
      • Application submission date.
      • Date and subject of the “Update on your Microsoft for Startups application” email.
      • Current status: investor verification pending for approximately eight months.
      • Confirmation that the investor reports receiving no verification request.
      • A screenshot of the redirect and the Azure portal showing no subscription.
      • The Microsoft account used to apply, startup legal name, and case/application ID if the email contains one.
      • A request to confirm whether the application is still active, identify any missing verification, and advise whether it should be deleted and resubmitted.

Program Support covers application review and approval status, business verification, portal issues, and reapplication questions. It provides 24/7 coverage in English.^1^

If the Startups portal interface is still available, first check Offers → Check status and save a screenshot of any displayed state.^2^

If Program Overview or Get program support is unavailable because every Startups link redirects elsewhere, use the access/contact guidance on the Program Support page. As a fallback, open Azure support from the portal’s ? menu and ask for help restoring access to—or routing the case to—Microsoft for Startups Program Support. The generic Azure support route handles Azure product and billing matters; it is not the documented owner of startup application review.^1^

An eight-month wait is far beyond the published norm: most applications are reviewed in about three business days, although verification can extend that period.^3^ The empty Azure subscription list does not establish whether the startup application is pending, rejected, or inactive.

    Should the investor contact Microsoft?

The documented investor responsibility is to provide the startup with its 10-character referral code. Microsoft does not publish participating-investor details, and the application guidance does not provide a separate investor channel for manually confirming affiliation.^4^

    Therefore:

    • Have the investor confirm the exact referral code and affiliated organization name in writing.
    • Attach that confirmation to the Program Support request.
    • Ask Program Support whether it needs anything directly from the investor and, if so, which approved channel to use.
    • Do not send sensitive application or referral information publicly in Microsoft Q&A.

Do not delete the application yet

A submitted application cannot be edited. For an application that is still pending, Microsoft’s documented process is to follow the original confirmation email to delete it and reapply; if declined, reapplication is allowed after 14 days.^3^

However, obtain Program Support’s direction first. The documentation confirms that a pending application can be deleted and resubmitted, but it does not confirm that the same referral code can always be reused. If support directs reapplication:

    1. Use the deletion link or instructions in the original confirmation email.
    2. Confirm with the investor that the referral code remains valid.
    3. Apply using an eligible personal Microsoft account, not a work, school, or company-domain account.
    4. Ensure the registered startup name and address exactly match the legal documents; mismatches can delay or fail business verification.^4^
    5. Save the submission confirmation and screenshots of the displayed status.
