You do not need a CD key to reinstall an HP ENVY Photo 7855; download its Windows 10 software directly from HP’s official support page.
Reinstall the HP software
- Turn on the printer.
- If using Wi-Fi, connect the computer and printer to the same network. If using USB, keep the cable available and connect it when the installer requests it.
- Open HP’s driver page for the exact printer model: ^1^
- Select Windows 10 if HP asks for the operating system.
- Download the recommended setup software or driver.
- Open the downloaded file—normally found in the Downloads folder—and follow the installation prompts.
- Choose Wireless or USB when asked how the printer connects.
HP also provides a dedicated setup page for this model, including its supported setup choices.^2^
Do not purchase or enter a “CD key.” If a website or installer demands one, close it and use the official HP page above.
If the HP installer cannot find the printer
In Windows 10:
- Select Start → Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners.
- Select Add a printer or scanner.
- Wait for HP ENVY Photo 7855 to appear.
- Select it, then choose Add device.
For a USB connection, plug the printer directly into the computer and turn it on before using Add a printer or scanner. Windows should attempt to detect and install it.^3^
Last resort: load the driver through Windows Update
If neither HP’s installer nor normal printer detection works:
- Go to Start → Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners.
- Under Related settings, select Printer server properties.
- Open the Drivers tab and select Add.
- Select your computer’s processor architecture.
- On Printer Driver Selection, select Windows Update and wait for the printer list to refresh.
- Choose HP as the manufacturer and select the matching ENVY Photo model.
- Complete the wizard, then return to Printers & scanners and add the printer.
Microsoft identifies this legacy wizard as a last-resort method that may help with older printers.^4^
