When I am at my work office, I seem to see and use One Drive differently. When I work from my home office, I can't seem to find the same One Drive that I used at my remote office. The symbol for One Drive in my tool bar at the bottom of my screen says that I am not connected. Can someone help me get the same set up at home that I have at my office please.

Hi Patrick, at home OneDrive is almost certainly signed in with a personal Microsoft account, or not signed in at all, rather than your work account. Click the cloud icon (check the ^ hidden icons arrow) > Settings > Account > Add an account, and sign in with your work email. A second folder called "OneDrive - [your company]" will appear in File Explorer. That's your work OneDrive.

If your team's shared files are in SharePoint or Teams rather than your own OneDrive, open that library in the browser and click Add shortcut to My files. It will then show up at home too. Happy to help further if useful.

    Hi Patrick

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.

I understand you're having trouble accessing the same OneDrive files at home that you use in the office.

    Please try the following:

    1. Look for the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar.
    2. If it's not visible, open Start, search for OneDrive, and launch it.
    3. Sign in with the same work or school account you use in the office.
    4. If a personal account is already connected, go to Settings > Account > Add an account and add your work account.

Once signed in, allow OneDrive a few minutes to sync and check if your files appear.

If the issue continues, please let me whether you're using the same computer at both locations and whether this is a work/school or personal OneDrive account.

    Kind regards,

Yes. The most likely issue is that the OneDrive sync app is either not running at home, or the work account is not added on that PC.

Try this on the home computer:

    1. Check whether OneDrive is running.
      • Look at the far right of the taskbar for a white or blue OneDrive cloud icon.
      • If it is not visible, click Show hidden icons.
      • If it still is not there, select Start, type OneDrive, and open OneDrive.
    2. Sign in with the work or school account.
      • When OneDrive Setup opens, enter the work or school account and select Sign in.
      • If a personal account is already signed in, open the OneDrive cloud icon > Settings > Account > Add an account.
      • One personal account and a work or school account can be used side by side.
    3. Confirm the files are syncing.
      • After setup, File Explorer should show separate folders such as OneDrive – Personal and OneDrive - CompanyName.
      • The work account usually appears with the blue cloud icon.
    4. If the toolbar icon says not connected, update or repair OneDrive.
      • Install the latest OneDrive app if needed.
      • If sync still fails, repairing Office can help resolve OneDrive for work or school sync issues before uninstalling and reinstalling.
    5. If the same work files still do not appear, copy is possible but merging is not.
      • Personal OneDrive and work or school OneDrive cannot be merged.
      • They stay separate, but files can be copied or dragged between the two after both are synced.

    Expected result:

    • The home PC should show the same work OneDrive account as the office PC once the work account is signed in and syncing.
    • The work files should appear in File Explorer under the organization’s OneDrive folder.
