Press Ctrl + Shift + T in Chrome first; this reopens the most recently closed tab or window, and pressing it repeatedly can restore additional tabs and windows.^1^
Restore the previous Chrome window
- Open Google Chrome.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + T.
- If only one tab returns, press the shortcut repeatedly until the missing window or tabs reappear.
- If that does not recover them, select Chrome’s three-dot menu (⋮) → History.
- Under Recently closed, look for an entry such as “10 tabs” or a recently closed window, then select it.^1^
- If there is no grouped entry, open the full History page and reopen the needed sites individually.
Avoid clearing Chrome’s browsing data or reinstalling Chrome while trying to recover the session, because that will not restore the missing tabs and may remove useful history.
Prevent this next time
In Chrome, open three-dot menu (⋮) → Settings → On startup, then select Continue where you left off. Chrome should then attempt to reopen the previous session whenever it starts.^2^
If the tabs are absent from both Recently closed and the full History, Chrome does not provide a clear supported method for manually rebuilding the session from its internal session files.^3^ In that case, individual pages may still be recoverable from browsing history, bookmarks, or another device if Chrome synchronization was already enabled.
