A 30-character legacy Microsoft Store gift card cannot be entered in the current 25-character redemption form, so contact Microsoft Account & Billing support and ask an agent to validate and redeem the older card manually.
- Open Microsoft Support: ^1^
- Select Get Help and sign in with the Microsoft account where you want the balance applied.
- Enter redeem old 30-character Microsoft Store gift card.
- If self-help does not resolve it, select Contact Support.
- Choose:
- Product: Microsoft Account & Billing
- Issue: Payment options & gift cards
- Select Chat with support or Call me back, whichever is offered.
- Tell the agent:
- The card has a 30-character code.
- The card states that it does not expire.
- The current redemption page rejects it.
- You have the original purchase receipt.
This is the resolution given for the same legacy 16- or 30-character Microsoft Store gift-card scenario.^2^
Have clear photographs of the front and back of the card and the receipt available, but do not post the code, barcode, or receipt details publicly. Provide them only through the private Microsoft Support session if requested.
Why the normal redemption page does not work
Microsoft’s current online process expects a 25-character code at redeem.microsoft.com; Microsoft 365 or Office product keys are also 25 characters.^3^ Since yours has 30 characters and has already failed, repeatedly entering it there will not convert or activate the legacy code.
If support determines that the card was issued by another retailer or is not a Microsoft-branded gift card, contact the retailer shown on the receipt. Keep the original card and receipt until the case is completed.
