An Azure platform as a service offer that is used to deploy web and cloud applications.
Add your university email address to the Microsoft account used for Azure Education, then sign in again with that address; if verification still fails, submit the account-specific issue to Azure Dev Tools for Teaching Plans Support.
Link the university address to your Microsoft account
Azure Dev Tools for Teaching requires a Microsoft account. If the university address is not already associated with one, Microsoft documents this procedure ^1^:
- Open the Microsoft account sign-in page: https://account.microsoft.com
- Sign in to the Microsoft account currently being used for Azure Education.
- Select Your info.
- Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
- Complete the identity verification prompt.
- Select Add email and enter your official university email address.
- Verify the address if prompted.
- Sign out of all Microsoft sessions, return to: https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools
- Sign in using the university email address.
If the university domain is associated with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), the university account is already considered a Microsoft account, so skip creating or linking another account and proceed to support instead ^1^.
Escalate the verification record
Since classmates using the same college can access the service and the college has already checked its side, avoid repeating the institutional troubleshooting. Use Plans Support, select your region, and report that the failure is specific to your account. This is Microsoft’s documented support route for Azure Dev Tools for Teaching sign-in and usage problems ^2^.
Include:
- The exact message: Unable to confirm your University ID
- Your institution and country/region
- Your university email domain, but not your password or verification codes
- The date and approximate time of the failed attempt
- A screenshot with personal information obscured
- Confirmation that classmates on the same institutional domain can access it
- Confirmation that the college has already checked your enrollment/account
- Whether the university address is a Microsoft work/school account or an alias on a personal Microsoft account
Eligibility distinction
If you are actually registering for the separate Azure for Students subscription rather than accessing institutional Dev Tools, eligibility requires full-time attendance at an accredited, degree-granting two- or four-year institution, age 18 or older, and verification through the institution’s email address ^3^. There is no documented student-ID or enrollment-letter replacement for that email verification workflow.
