Can't access my own meeting in Teams

I have an individual Teams account. When I set up a meeting, I can't join as the system says I'm not the host and my invitees can't join. The system used to work. What do I need to do to access a meeting I've set up?

It sounds like Teams may not be recognizing you as the meeting organizer. Try signing out of Teams and signing back in with the same account you used to schedule the meeting. Also, open the meeting from your Teams calendar and check if your account is listed as the organizer. If you created the meeting using a different account or joined through an old meeting link, Teams may not recognize you as the host.

If the issue continues, try creating a new test meeting and see if you can join it.

Join the meeting from the Meet tab while signed in to the same personal Microsoft account that created it, rather than opening the invitation under another account or as a guest.

    Re-enter with the organizer account

    Desktop or web

    1. In Teams, select your profile picture.
    2. Check the displayed email address. If it is not the personal Microsoft account used to schedule the meeting:
      • Select that account if it is already listed, or
      • Select Add another account → Create or use another account, and sign in with the correct personal account. Teams supports multiple accounts and switching from the profile menu.^1^
    3. Select Meet.
    4. Under Scheduled meetings, locate the meeting and select Join. Joining from its scheduled entry under the creating account should identify you as the organizer.^2^
    5. On the pre-join screen, verify that the displayed account is the organizer account, then select Join now.

    Mobile

    1. Open Teams and switch to the personal account that scheduled the meeting.
    2. Tap Meet.
    3. Under Scheduled, find the meeting and tap Join.^2^

Do not choose Join as guest or Join without signing in for this test. Those options enter you as an attendee, so Teams will not recognize you as the organizer.

    If the meeting is missing

Look in the calendar application or email account associated with that personal Microsoft account; Teams documentation notes that meetings absent from Meet can appear in the device’s preferred calendar application or junk folder.^2^

If the invitation shows a meeting ID and passcode:

    1. Open Meet.
    2. Select Join with meeting ID.
    3. Enter the ID and passcode from the invitation.
    4. Before joining, ensure the organizer’s personal account is selected.^2^

    If Teams requests another account

A message such as “Sign in with a different account to join this meeting” means Teams expects the account to which the invitation was issued. Sign in with that exact account.^3^

If the correct personal account is selected but Teams still treats it as an attendee:

    1. Create a new test link from Meet → Create a meeting link → Create and copy link.
    2. Confirm the link appears under Meeting links.
    3. Select Join directly from that entry before sharing it.
    4. If the new test works, replace the affected invitation with the new link.^2^

If even a newly created link fails while the correct account is active, use the Contact support option listed by Microsoft for Teams personal-use account problems.^4^
