A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Open Microsoft Authenticator and select the Availity account tile—the six-digit code is displayed inside that tile rather than delivered as a message or Microsoft sign-in notification.
If the Availity tile is present
- Open Microsoft Authenticator on the phone originally connected to Availity.
- Tap the Availity entry.
- Enter the displayed verification code on the Availity sign-in page before it refreshes.
- Ensure the phone’s date and time are set automatically if Availity rejects the displayed code, because time-based codes depend on the device clock.
Availity permits its account to be connected to only one authenticator app on one device at a time.^1^
If the Availity tile is missing
The app cannot generate the code because the Availity registration is not currently stored on that phone. This commonly applies after changing phones, reinstalling Authenticator, or removing the account.
- If the old registered phone remains available, use the Availity code on that device.
- If Availity offers another verification or recovery option on its login page, use it to sign in and configure Authenticator again.
- Once Availity displays a new setup QR code:
- Open Microsoft Authenticator.
- Select + → Other account.
- Scan the QR code from inside Authenticator, not with the phone’s regular camera.
- Enter the generated code into Availity to finish registration.
Availity’s documented setup process requires selecting Use an authenticator app, scanning its QR code, and entering the generated verification code.^1^
Do not delete an existing Availity tile while troubleshooting; deleting it does not disable two-step authentication at Availity and may remove the only working code generator.
If you cannot reach a new QR code
Contact Availity Customer Support through the Availity Essentials login-help page and request that the authenticator registration be reset so you can enroll the phone again.^2^
This reset must be handled on the Availity side. Changing Microsoft-account security information will not repair an Availity registration because Availity is a separate, non-Microsoft account.
