Sign in at the Microsoft Family page and use Leave family group if it appears; if it is missing, your account cannot remove itself and the inaccessible organizer account must be recovered before you can be removed.

    Try the available self-removal option

    1. Open account.microsoft.com/family.
    2. Sign in with your own Microsoft account.
    3. Select the three-dot menu beside your name.
    4. If Leave family group appears, select it, then select Remove to confirm. ^1^

Leaving may remove access to products and services shared by the family, including a shared Microsoft 365 Family subscription. It does not delete your Microsoft account. ^2^

If “Leave family group” is missing

Microsoft’s current procedure says only an organizer can add or remove family members. If yours is a child/member account, the organizer may first need to select Remove consent for this child’s account, then Remove from family group. ^1^

Because nobody can access the organizer account:

    1. Attempt account recovery or a password reset for that organizer account.
    2. After access is restored, sign in at the Microsoft Family page as the organizer.
    3. Open the menu beside your account.
    4. For a child account, select Remove consent for this child’s account first.
    5. Return to the family group and select Remove from family group. Microsoft specifically directs the adult or appropriate guardian to recover the adult account when the consenting adult cannot access it. ^2^

    If organizer-account recovery is impossible

    Contact Microsoft Support:

    1. On Microsoft Support, search for Account Recovery or Account issue.
    2. Select Get Help → Contact Support.
    3. Choose Other Products or Microsoft 365 and Office, then Manage account security.
    4. Choose browser chat when available and explain that the only family organizer account is inaccessible and your account has no Leave family group option.

Support chat operates during limited hours, so retry on the next working day if it is unavailable. Community moderators cannot directly change family membership or access Microsoft’s account systems. ^3^

    Hello,

According to the Microsoft Family Safety policy, only the Organizer of the family group can add or remove members from the Family group.

If you are already in a family group with an unknown organizer listed, unfortunately, there isn't a direct way to remove your account from the family group, or an adult can do it on your behalf.

In this situation, I recommend that you get in touch with Microsoft live chat support using the link below. See if they can help you with your request. However, this isn't guaranteed, as chat support may redirect you to recover the family group organizer account.

    1. Go to this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact
    2. Type Talk to an agent then click Get Help.
    3. At the bottom of the page click Contact Support. Sign in to your Microsoft account if needed.
    4. Select Other Products then Billing and Account Profile questions then Confirm.
    5. Click Chat with a support agent in your web browser.
