Hondo i get a code to verify my account, when the code simply does not arrive at the directed email address stated

For the last 2 months I have been trying to add an Hotmail address to my new tablet. The sign in details are correct but the security code request does not arrive. To either my Hotmail or my Gmail address. I have access to both of these accounts on my old device and my mobile. But I cannot get the codes on either device
