Issue with Windows 11 Pro licence upgrade

On my laptop windows 11 Home edition is already installed and I bought windows 11 pro from Microsoft store and after one month for some reason internet is not working and I try all the possible solution and at the end I have to reset my PC and when it get reset it unable to find the windows 11 pro license and show me need to activate. So, I tech help of AI and its told to first go back to Windows 11 Home edition then your windows get activated. so, I did and it get activated on Windows 11 Home edition. Now, when I am trying to upgrade to Windows 11 pro which I purchesed from Microsoft store its unable to find it and although I paid for Windows 11 PRO, I am stuck at windows 11 Home edition. I tried all the possible way to set it windows 11 Pro. but, no solution.. I am trying to serch to connect with Windows support but its ask for error code. but there is no error code. so, I am now confuse with this.

@chandrakant kavad Having checked about the Pro upgrade licence it should be allowed to activate a clean install of Windows 11 Pro edition if Home edition is previously activated prior to the Pro upgrade.

the support agent gave you the wrong info.

Do you still have the previous installation listed on your account when you have tried to use the activation trobleshooter and selected I change hardware.?

Another thing you can try is https://visualsupport.microsoft.com/ using the current install ID which can be found by opening a Command prompt (Admin) and entering slmgr /dlv [press return]. This opens the current detail on the Pro licence. Follow the prompts on the webpage shown above and enter the information as required.

Hello,

Have you used the generic product key VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T to get your Windows edition back to Pro yet?

If not, you may do so via Settings > System > Activation, pressing "Change" next to "Change Product Key". Then, once you restart your PC, head to the same menu, but this time run the Activation Troubleshooter and see if there is a license in your account to successfully activate Windows 11 Pro.

is there anything like if I upgrade windows 11 Pro from Microsoft Store and it come with only one time activation and if I reset the laptop it wont activate again ?

Hello,

Upgrade licenses are locked to the specific motherboard (i.e. your laptop) and not the specific installation of Windows. The original Windows 11 Home license is also tied to the motherboard on your laptop. This means that you should still be able to activate Windows 11 Home (because the license is embedded on the device) and then apply the upgrade license to successfully upgrade to and activate Windows 11 Pro.

I tried your solution previously but it unable to find windows 11 pro licence. and I connect with Microsoft live support and they said that was one time activation so, if you reset your laptop it will not activate again. and it will stick back to your previous licence which is windows 11 home edition. I didnt get this that i can only activate one time to windows 11 pro . so, now I have to purchase it again

To use the generic product key mentioned previously you must make sure the device is not connected to the internet.

After Windows 11 Pro is installed windows should activate using your upgrade licence.

@Neil D Yes. I tried that as well but it didnt worked. I talked with live agent and They said as you bought the licence from the Store it is valid for one time activation only and not tie with your Microsoft account thats why, You will not able to get any licence and it will not upgrade.

@chandrakant kavad I find that answer very odd from support. You didn't change hardware so the licence should still be valid, you bought it for that device.

So you have Pro edition installed currently and the support agent is saying you will need to buy Pro edition again?

Yes, he/she told me that when you buy the licence from store it is valid for one time and if you reset or change the hardware it will void and no longer avilable. I make the same point as you said but he said that info is given in disclimer when you buy the licence from store and now there is no way to get back.

this is completly shity practice. to sell more licence.

Was home edition activated with the manufacturers OEM licence prior to the Pro upgrade?

Is the Pro upgrade shown in purchase history for the account you are using to sign-in to windows currently?
