A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
When Microsoft Outlook notes fail to appear on a new iPhone, it is usually because iOS has not been configured to pull mail-associated notes from the Microsoft account, or the notes are actually formatted as Microsoft Sticky Notes (which require a separate companion application rather than the standard Apple Notes app).
To get your notes synced and visible on your new iPhone, use the following troubleshooting sequence:
- Enable Notes Sync in iOS Settings
If you want your Outlook notes to populate directly inside Apple’s native Notes app, you must explicitly enable the sync toggle for your Microsoft account:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Scroll down and tap Mail (or Apps > Mail depending on your iOS version), then select Accounts.
Select your Microsoft/Outlook account. If the account isn't listed, tap Add Account, select Outlook.com (or Microsoft Exchange), and sign in.
Ensure that the Notes toggle switch is turned ON (green).
Open the native Apple Notes app, tap Folders, and look specifically under the header matching your Outlook account.
- Check if They Are Microsoft Sticky Notes (Use Microsoft OneNote)
If your notes were created as traditional Microsoft Sticky Notes or synced via the web version of Outlook, they will not automatically route into the standard iOS Apple Notes app. Instead, Microsoft routes these through OneNote:
Download and install Microsoft OneNote from the App Store onto your new iPhone.
Sign in using the exact same Microsoft/Outlook account credentials.
Tap the Sticky Notes tab at the bottom right to access and view your notes.
- Verify Notes Exist on the Web
To rule out an issue with your account sync state, check whether the notes are still present on the server side:
Open a browser on another device and sign in to Outlook.com.
Navigate to your Notes folder or check your mailbox folders to confirm the text/notes are visible. If they are missing or stored locally in a legacy desktop client rather than cloud-synced, they will need to be moved to your online Microsoft account folder first.
