I am not able to use Copilot Chat on my personal account, in both the app and web version. It is telling me that I need to be over 13. I am 15. My age in the account is correct. What can I do as I have found no way to verify my age.

Copilot accepts personal Microsoft accounts from age 13 only where the regional minimum permits it; at 15, either complete parental consent if your region’s threshold is higher or use the account’s Age verification option if Microsoft presents one.

    1. Check the regional age requirement

Microsoft states that Copilot requires users to be at least 13, but the minimum can be higher by country or region.^1^

    Check your country in Microsoft’s statutory-age list.^2^

    • If the listed age is above 15: your correct birth date still classifies the account as requiring adult management. Ask a parent or guardian to complete the consent request shown when you sign in.
    • If the listed age is 15 or lower: continue with age assurance below, because your account should meet the documented age requirement.

Do not change the birth date to an inaccurate adult age.

    2. Check whether age verification is available

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account.
    2. Open Your info.
    3. Under Profile info, look for Age verification.
    4. If Verify your age appears, select it and complete one of the offered methods, such as facial age estimation, document upload, or a supported government system.

Microsoft only requires verification when prompted, and proactive verification is currently available only in certain countries or regions. Therefore, not seeing a verification button does not mean that you have overlooked it.^3^

After completing verification, sign out of both the Copilot website and Windows app, then sign back in with the same personal account.

    Have a parent or guardian:

    1. Start from the consent prompt displayed when you sign in.
    2. Select I’m a parent or guardian.
    3. Sign in with their adult personal Microsoft account.
    4. Select Yes, I agree and complete the Family Safety process.

A child account cannot independently remove consent where its recorded age is below the statutory age.^4^

If the parent cannot find your account under Manage Consent, consent may have been granted by another adult or through another Microsoft account; only the account that originally granted consent can manage it.^5^

    4. If you meet the regional minimum but remain blocked

Since your birth date is already correct, do not repeatedly edit it. Contact Microsoft Support and report:

    • This is a personal Microsoft account, not a school/work account.
    • Your correct age is 15.
    • Your account’s country or region.
    • Whether Your info → Profile info shows an age-verification status or button.
    • That both Copilot for web and the Windows Copilot app show the same under-13 message.

On the parental-consent support page, select Contact Microsoft Support → Get Help → Contact Support. Support cannot directly change account details, but it can route the account-classification problem to the appropriate support path.^6^
