Startups: Companies that are in their initial stages of business and typically developing a business model and seeking financing.
Microsoft for Startups — Azure account eligibility rejection; unable to access Program Support
I am the founder and owner of CognetiksAI, LLC, a legally registered technology startup in Texas, United States.
On November 1, 2026, I attempted to enroll in Microsoft for Startups using a newly created personal Microsoft account dedicated to my company.
I selected Continue without an investor referral code and successfully completed LinkedIn identity verification. The Microsoft for Startups dashboard displayed an offer to unlock $200 in Azure credits.
However, after completing the three-step Azure account registration process, including identity, address, and payment information, I received the following error:
"You're not eligible for an Azure free account."
The only alternative presented was to register for Azure using pay-as-you-go pricing.
Account and Eligibility Information
- Company: CognetiksAI, LLC
Country: United States
Business type: Privately held, early-stage technology startup
Company formation: April 24, 2025
Microsoft account: Newly created personal Outlook.com account for CognetiksAI
Enrollment method: Microsoft for Startups, without investor referral code
LinkedIn identity verification: Successfully completed
Azure subscription: None created
Previous Azure subscriptions or free trials: None
Payment method: Standard physical credit card
Previous Azure use of payment method: None
The Microsoft account and LinkedIn profile use different email addresses but belong to the same individual. LinkedIn authorization completed successfully.
Troubleshooting Already Completed
Confirmed the newly created Microsoft account can successfully authenticate into the Azure portal.
Confirmed that LinkedIn identity verification completed successfully.
Confirmed that no Azure subscriptions exist under the new account.
Verified that the payment method is a regular physical credit card, not a prepaid or virtual card.
Attempted to access Microsoft for Startups Program Support but could not locate the support option because the startup account activation did not complete.
Navigated to Azure Portal → Help + Support → Create a Support Request.
Selected:
Issue Type: Subscription management
Problem Type: Purchase, sign up or upgrade issues
Problem Subtype: Unable to sign-up for subscription
The support wizard displayed **"Resolve inability to sign up"** and directed me to complete a support ticket for Account Review.
However, the wizard remained stuck at **Step 2 — Recommended Solution**, preventing access to the Additional Details and Review + Create stages.
As a result, I cannot activate the Microsoft for Startups credits or successfully submit a conventional Azure support request.
Assistance Requested
I would appreciate assistance with the following:
Eligibility Review: Determine why my Azure account registration was rejected despite successfully completing Microsoft account creation, LinkedIn verification, and the registration process.
Startup Program Activation: Confirm whether my Microsoft for Startups enrollment remains eligible for the introductory startup credits and explain how to complete activation.
Account Verification: Identify whether an identity, billing, or account-validation issue requires correction.
Support Escalation: If this cannot be resolved through Microsoft Q&A, please route the issue to the Microsoft for Startups Program Operations or Azure Account Review team, or provide a working private support channel for applicants without an active subscription.
I can provide the Azure registration Session ID, UTC timestamp, screenshots of the error, and any other relevant verification details through a secure Microsoft support channel.
I would prefer not to register for a pay-as-you-go Azure subscription until the startup enrollment and credit eligibility issue has been reviewed.I am the founder and owner of CognetiksAI, LLC, a legally registered technology startup in Texas, United States.
