Put the Beats earbuds into discovery mode before searching again, because Windows cannot list them while they are merely powered on.
Pair the Beats earbuds
- Charge the earbuds and keep them close to the computer.
- If they are connected to a phone or tablet, temporarily turn off Bluetooth on that device.
- For most Beats earbuds with a charging case:
- Put both earbuds in the case.
- Leave the case open.
- Press and hold the case’s system button until its indicator flashes white.
For Beats Flex, hold the power button until the light flashes white. The flashing light indicates that the Beats are discoverable. ^1^
- On the computer, select Start → Settings → Bluetooth & devices and turn Bluetooth on.
- Select Add device → Bluetooth, then choose the Beats when their name appears. ^2^
The expected result is that Windows displays Connected beneath the Beats device.
If the Beats still do not appear
Change Windows from its default discovery filter to showing every Bluetooth device:
- Open Start → Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices.
- Under Device settings, find Bluetooth devices discovery.
- Change it from Default to Advanced.
- Put the Beats back into discovery mode—the light must be flashing white—and select Add device → Bluetooth again. ^3^
Also keep the earbuds away from USB 3.0 devices, routers, and microwaves while pairing; interference can prevent detection. If necessary, reset the Beats using the model-specific procedure and then pair them again. ^4^
If Windows cannot find any Bluetooth devices
Check the computer’s Bluetooth adapter:
- Right-click Start → Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter—not the earbuds—and select Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart the computer after installation.
- If Windows says the best driver is already installed, obtain the current Windows 11 Bluetooth driver from the computer manufacturer’s support site. ^5^
If Bluetooth appears in Device Manager but updating does not help, reinstall the adapter:
- In Device Manager → Bluetooth, right-click the Bluetooth adapter.
- Select Uninstall device → Uninstall.
- Shut down the computer, wait several seconds, and turn it back on.
- Windows should reinstall the adapter automatically. If it does not, open Device Manager and select Action → Scan for hardware changes. ^3^
If there is no Bluetooth category or Bluetooth switch anywhere in Windows, the PC may lack Bluetooth hardware or its adapter may require a manufacturer driver or compatible USB Bluetooth adapter.
