    Hello Joseph Hill, SJ,

This error may be caused by outdated sign-in information stored on the device. Please close all Office apps, restart the device, and try signing in again.

If the issue continues, open Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials, then remove credentials related to Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, OneAuth or MicrosoftAccount:user. Restart the device before signing in again.

Note: Removing these credentials will sign you out of the related Microsoft apps, so make sure you know your account password before proceeding.

You can also repair the Office apps by opening Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office > Modify. Try Quick Repair first, then Online Repair if needed.

If you still receive the same error, please let me know whether you are signing in with a personal Microsoft account or a work or school account.
