Copilot Notebook OneDrive File Picker Shows "This item might not exist or is no longer available"

I'm experiencing an issue with OneDrive references in Copilot Notebooks and would like to know if anyone else has seen this.

Problem

In a Notebook, when I click Add Reference → OneDrive, the file picker opens but does not display any files.

Instead, it shows:

"This item might not exist or is no longer available."

Clicking My Files, Recent, Photos, or Shared does not change anything. The same error remains.

What I've tested

  • OneDrive web works normally.
  • OneDrive desktop sync works normally.
  • Copilot Chat can access and search my OneDrive files.
  • The file picker works correctly in a regular Copilot chat.
  • The issue occurs in both:
    • Copilot Web
      • Copilot Desktop App
      • The issue appears to be limited to Notebooks.

Question Has anyone experienced this Notebook-specific OneDrive file picker issue? If so, were you able to resolve it, or is this a known service bug that requires Microsoft intervention?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi, VTA_88

Since the picker works in regular Copilot chat but fails only in Notebooks, the problem is probably the sign-in handshake between the Notebook picker and OneDrive, not your files or your account. A recent Copilot app update changed how OneDrive sign-in requests are handled, and some file pickers stopped working because of it.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Fully close the Copilot desktop app (right-click its icon in the system tray and choose Quit) and close every browser window, then open them again. If an old session is still running, it can keep the broken sign-in even after Microsoft releases a fix.

While you wait, skip the picker and add the file another way. Open the file in OneDrive web, click Share > Copy link, then in the Notebook go to Add references > Link and paste it. You can also type the file name into the search bar in the Add references panel, or drag the file straight into the panel.

If this is a personal Microsoft account, go to account.microsoft.com/privacy > Apps and services, find Copilot, and remove its permissions. The next time you open the OneDrive picker, Copilot will ask for access again and set up a fresh connection.

If none of this helps, it's most likely a service-side issue. Please send feedback from inside the Notebook (the Feedback option in Copilot) so the engineering team can trace it to your account.
