    Hi ,

If it is a laptop or desktop, if possible, could you provide the laptop model or your desktop configuration?

    What is your GPU?

Are you connecting the second monitor via HDMI or DP?

    Thanks

Press Windows key + P and select Extend, then manually detect the monitor under Settings > System > Display > Multiple displays > Detect before changing the graphics driver.^1^

    Check detection and connections

    1. Press Windows key + P.
    2. Select Extend to use both screens, or Duplicate to show the same image on both.
    3. Open Start > Settings > System > Display.
    4. Expand Multiple displays, then select Detect.
    5. If the monitor remains undetected:
      • Confirm the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input, such as HDMI or DisplayPort.
      • Reconnect the cable at both ends.
      • Bypass any dock, dongle, or adapter temporarily and connect the monitor directly, if possible.
      • Test another cable and another video-output port.
      • Connect the new monitor to another computer to determine whether the monitor itself works.

Microsoft recommends isolating docks and adapters, testing another cable, and trying another output port before repairing the driver.^2^

Check whether the hardware supports two independent displays

    • If both monitors are connected through a display splitter, the splitter normally duplicates one signal; it does not create two independent extended displays.
    • If the computer has only one video output, a supported docking station or USB-C video adapter may be required.
    • The graphics adapter must support the number of displays being connected. Test each monitor individually on the same computer. If each works alone but not together, check the PC or graphics-card specifications for its supported display count and port combinations.^2^

Update or repair the graphics driver only if needed

First install pending updates from Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.^1^

    Then:

    1. Search for and open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Display adapters.
    3. Right-click the listed Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA adapter.
    4. Select Update driver.
    5. If Windows finds nothing, obtain the Windows 11 driver from the PC or graphics-adapter manufacturer.

If the problem began immediately after an update, use Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, then restart. If rollback is unavailable and the connection tests passed, reinstall the driver:

    1. In Device Manager > Display adapters, right-click the graphics adapter.
    2. Select Uninstall device.
    3. Select Attempt to remove the driver for this device, then Uninstall.
    4. Restart the computer; Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
    5. Return to Device Manager, right-click the adapter, and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.^2^

Uninstalling a device driver requires administrator privileges and can temporarily reduce display resolution until Windows reinstalls it.^3^
