365 making users sign-in multiple times each day

This applies to signing in to Teams and Outlook via the browser, and the Outlook desktop app. I haven't heard of it happening on Android or IOS devices.

Users sign in, everything is working as expected, and then at some random point during the day it tells them they are signed out and need to sign in again. This happens two or three times a day. The problem is across the board, on different browsers, on different PCs and on different operating systems, so clearing the cache or the credentials manager is useless.

I haven't yet set up conditional access policies, so nothing there can be forcing people to sign in frequently. It's incredibly obnoxious. It started a few months ago and has been getting steadily worse. I have one user that is in the double digits today, and it's not even noon yet.

Can anyone help?

    Dear Allen,

As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly review your tenant's sign-in logs or authentication settings to diagnose and fix this for you. Unfortunately, my role here is limited to providing general guidance and solutions that can be applied by users. Since this affects many users across different browsers, devices, operating systems, and apps, clearing local caches or Credential Manager is unlikely to help. The pattern points to a tenant level authentication or session issue rather than anything on individual PCs.

Before opening a case, it's worth checking a few things in the Microsoft Entra admin center:

    1. Sign-in logs: Go to Identity > Monitoring & health > Sign-in logs, filter by one affected user, and look at the failure or interrupt reason around the time they were signed out.
    2. Federation: Check whether your domain is federated with AD FS or a third party identity provider. If it is, that provider's token lifetime settings may be the cause.
    3. Stay signed in prompt: Confirm the "Show option to remain signed in" setting under Company branding hasn't been turned off.

If nothing there explains it, I recommend that the Global Admin in your organization create a service request with Microsoft Support. A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin. If you don't know who your IT administrator is, please refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

For additional assistance, use this link to find the appropriate contact number from your region: Contact Microsoft customer support | Microsoft Support

I truly hope you get your issue resolved swiftly. Please know that even though I can't directly intervene, directing you to the correct, specialized support is the most effective help I can provide from my position. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please let me know if you need anything else. Wishing you all the best.
