The process of building custom applications and tools that interact with Microsoft SharePoint, including SharePoint Online in Microsoft 365.
The tenant administrator should submit a support request from the SharePoint Acceptable Use Policy page in the Microsoft 365 admin center, because a PolicyViolationThrottle.htm redirect affecting both SharePoint and OneDrive requires Microsoft to review and restore service-side access.^1^
Submit the correct support request
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center using a Global Administrator or another account permitted to create support requests.
- Search for SharePoint Acceptable Use Policy.
- Open that support page and select Contact support. This is the documented route for requesting restoration when the organization believes the restriction is a mistake.^1^
- In the request, state:
- SharePoint Online and OneDrive web both redirect to
/_layouts/15/PolicyViolationThrottle.htm. - OneDrive sync reports
0x8004DEEF. - Exchange Online, Entra sign-in, MFA, and the Microsoft 365 portal remain accessible.
- The user has an active Office 365 E3 license containing SharePoint Online.
- The behavior persists across InPrivate mode and multiple browsers.
- Whether the problem affects one user, several users, or every SharePoint/OneDrive user.
- SharePoint Online and OneDrive web both redirect to
- Attach:
- A screenshot of the policy page.
- The full redirect URL, preferably in a private support attachment rather than a public forum.
- Correlation ID
[GUID]. - UTC time of a recent failed request.
- Tenant domain and affected user details, entered only in the private support case.
Forum moderators cannot inspect or override this type of backend enforcement. Similar policy-block cases have required escalation from Microsoft Support to the responsible backend team.^2^^3^
Check tenant notifications while the case is opened
In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Health → Service health:
- Review Issues for your organization to act on.
- Review active SharePoint Online incidents or advisories.
- If no relevant issue appears, select Report an issue if available, in addition to opening the support request.
- Check Message center for notices concerning the tenant or subscription.
Service health distinguishes broad Microsoft incidents from issues detected specifically in the organization.^4^
How the errors fit together
0x8004DEEF means that OneDrive considers the account unable to access the service. Microsoft lists missing licensing and credential mismatch as possible causes.^5^ In this case, however:
- The SharePoint-capable license has already been verified.
- Web access fails as well as desktop synchronization.
- The service redirects explicitly to
PolicyViolationThrottle.htm.
Therefore, deleting cached identities, resetting OneDrive, reinstalling the client, or repeating browser-cookie tests should not be the next action. Those client remedies do not remove a SharePoint Online service-side block.
Microsoft’s public documentation does not define the fabDeleteSchdDate parameter. Do not treat that value as a confirmed deletion deadline or attempt to change it; include the complete URL in the private support case and ask Microsoft to confirm its meaning and the tenant’s enforcement state.
Remove the exposed user address and tenant URL from any public post. Keep them only in the private Microsoft support request.
