I cannot change the background image indipendently. I wish to choose individual pictures on each of the two montitors. I use Win 11 Pro.

Ensure your monitors are set to Extended, not Duplicate.

In Settings - Personalization - Background

Add the two images you want to use on your monitors.

Then, in the recent images thumbnail list, right click each image, you should be able to use the right click menu to set which monitor that image is used as a background image on.

To set different pictures on two monitors in Windows 11, use Picture as the background type, not Slideshow.

    1. Open Start > Settings > Personalization > Background.
    2. Under Personalize your background, select Picture.
    3. In the image list under Recent images, right-click the picture.
    4. Choose whether to set it for a specific display.
    5. Repeat for the second picture and assign it to the other display.

    Important limitations:

    • This per-monitor option is available when using multiple displays.
    • This option isn't available if using multiple desktops.
    • If Slideshow is selected, each screen shows a different picture from the chosen folder automatically, but individual manual assignment per monitor is not supported that way.
    • If using multiple desktops, configuring a background picture per monitor isn't supported.

If the goal is one image stretched across both monitors, select the Span fit option instead.
