Container Apps: Deploying Environment with VNET Fails — Investigation Needed

Problem description

I am experiencing failures when deploying a Container App Environment with VNET in Azure. The deployment does not succeed, and I am seeing environment-level signals indicating unavailability, container runtime creation failures, and storage mount failures. I am seeking assistance to understand the cause of these issues and how to resolve them.

Environment

Azure Container Apps, deploying Container App Environment with VNET, in an unspecified region.

What I've already tried

I reviewed the available case details and diagnostic information. I confirmed that there are no resource locks in the resource group, activity logs show no failed or in-progress events, the workload subnet is correctly delegated with no NSG or route table attached, and the VNet DNS is using Azure-provided DNS with no custom servers. I also verified that the environment status reports 'Succeeded', is internal/private, uses a static IP, and references the expected workload subnet.

Current status

I am seeking further assistance to investigate and recover the managed environment compute, as the deployment fails before any revision is created with ManagedClusterSuspended. I would appreciate guidance on backend investigation and resolution steps.

    Hi @Harshith-4987 ,

We have investigated the issue from backend. The Azure Container Apps platform automatically suspended the cluster because no applications were deployed. When the customer deployed an app, the cluster resumed successfully.

The environment is now healthy, with the cluster Running, deployment Succeeded, and the active revision showing 1/1 replicas ready.

    Hope this helps!

Likely cause (confirmed vs possible): your checks already rule out common subnet/UDR/NSG/DNS misconfiguration, so a ManagedClusterSuspended failure before first revision is often either (a) environment infrastructure allocation failure in region/capacity, or (b) a hidden dependency mismatch in environment networking prerequisites.

    1. Re-validate VNet integration prerequisites at environment scope
      • Confirm workload subnet sizing/delegation meets current Container Apps requirements.
        • Confirm no conflicting policies/locks are applied at subscription/resource-group level.
        • Docs:
            1. Isolate whether this is region-capacity vs configuration
              • Attempt creating a new test Container Apps environment in another supported region with equivalent VNet settings.
                  • If alternate region succeeds with same template/settings, this strongly indicates regional backend capacity/health issue.
                  1. Recreate environment with minimal baseline config
                • Use a minimal environment definition (no extra add-ons) to reduce variables.
                   - - After successful environment creation, add components incrementally.

                   - 1. Collect diagnostics for backend escalation

                  • Capture failed deployment operation IDs, UTC timestamps, subscription ID, environment resource ID, region, and subnet resource ID.
                       - - Open support and request platform-side investigation for ManagedClusterSuspended on environment provisioning.

                    1. Recovery / rollback guidance
                      • If this is production-bound, keep existing working environment unchanged until new environment reaches stable Succeeded state and passes smoke checks.
                    2. Validation checks
                      • Managed environment provisioning completes without suspension.
                              - - First test revision deploys and reaches healthy state.

                        • Environment networking path works (ingress/egress as expected).
