Dear Microsoft Azure Support Team,

I am contacting you because I am experiencing difficulties creating an Azure for Students account, even though I am currently enrolled at Université Internationale de Rabat (UIR), a university student.

I would like to benefit from the Azure for Students offer, but I am unable to complete the registration process.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue. I can also provide proof of my student status, including a copy of my university student ID card or any other document required to verify my enrollment.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

Kind regards, Abir Elkas

Contact Université Internationale de Rabat’s IT help desk and ask an administrator to require MFA re-registration for your university account; the Azure for Students registration cannot proceed until you can sign in to that account.

    Request the MFA reset

Refreshing Outlook has not restored the approval request, so send UIR IT support this request:

I cannot sign in to my university account because the number-matching MFA request never appears in Outlook mobile, and no alternative verification method is available. Please verify my identity and select Require re-register MFA for my account in Microsoft Entra ID.

Microsoft directs university users to their institution’s technical support team for account-administration issues. If you do not know the appropriate contact, ask the department that issued your university account, Student Services, or a university administrator to identify the Microsoft 365 administrator.^1^

    The UIR administrator should:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center with at least the Authentication Administrator role.
    2. Go to Entra ID → Users.
    3. Select your university account.
    4. Select Authentication methods.
    5. Select Require re-register MFA and confirm.

This removes the existing phone, Microsoft Authenticator, and software OATH registrations. Your next sign-in will require you to configure MFA again.^2^

Neither Microsoft Q&A moderators nor Azure App Service support can directly reset a university-managed account. The reset must be performed by an administrator of UIR’s Microsoft Entra tenant.

Check for an alternative before the reset

On the verification screen, select Sign in another way, Other verification options, or I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now, if one appears. Use an already-registered SMS, telephone, security key, or verification-code method.

If no alternative is displayed, continue with the university-admin reset. Reinstalling Outlook or an authentication app does not remove the MFA registration held in the university’s tenant.

    After UIR confirms the reset:

    1. Start a new sign-in with the university account.
    2. Complete the security-information setup prompt.
    3. Register the method permitted by UIR, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Outlook mobile.
    4. Complete the test notification and number match.
    5. If university policy permits, add a second authentication method for recovery. Microsoft recommends multiple methods so another one remains available if the primary method fails.^3^

Complete Azure for Students registration afterward

Once university-account access works, restart the Azure for Students application and verify your academic status using the institution-issued email address. Eligibility requires attendance at an accredited, degree-granting institution as a full-time student and verification through the institution’s email address.^4^

The student ID may help UIR’s IT team verify your identity, but it does not itself bypass the university account’s MFA prompt or replace the required academic email verification.

    Protect the student ID

Delete the attachment if the platform permits, or ask a moderator to remove it. Provide identity documents only through UIR’s approved private support channel—never in a public Q&A post.
