Quick Assist is now a Microsoft Store app, which is why it may look different or seem to have “moved.” To use it:
- Open Start and search for Quick Assist.
- Or press Ctrl + Windows key + Q.
- If it is not installed, open Microsoft Store, search for Quick Assist, and select Get or Install.
To start a remote support session:
- Open Quick Assist.
- Select Help someone.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account or Microsoft Entra ID. Local Active Directory sign-in is not supported.
- Quick Assist generates a time-limited security code.
- Share that code with the other person.
- The other person opens Quick Assist, enters the code in Security code from assistant or Code from assistant, and selects Submit.
- They select Allow to share their screen.
- If needed, select Request control and wait for them to approve it.
If the goal is to chat with a Microsoft support agent through Quick Assist in a browser, that option still exists only through the Quick Assist web app for verified Microsoft support agents. The support agent provides the security code, and it is entered when prompted.
If a previous Microsoft support session was disconnected, the documented path is to contact Microsoft Support again through live chat so a new remote session can be started.
If Quick Assist will not install properly from the Store, try:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type wsreset.exe and select OK.
- Wait for Microsoft Store to reopen.
- Make sure Windows is fully updated.
Use Quick Assist only with someone trusted, because they can view the screen and, if allowed, control the PC.
