If the Quick Assist app is not installed on your PC, you can download and install that app from the Microsoft Store on this link.

Quick Assist is now a Microsoft Store app, which is why it may look different or seem to have “moved.” To use it:

    1. Open Start and search for Quick Assist.
    2. Or press Ctrl + Windows key + Q.
    3. If it is not installed, open Microsoft Store, search for Quick Assist, and select Get or Install.

To start a remote support session:

    1. Open Quick Assist.
    2. Select Help someone.
    3. Sign in with a Microsoft account or Microsoft Entra ID. Local Active Directory sign-in is not supported.
    4. Quick Assist generates a time-limited security code.
    5. Share that code with the other person.
    6. The other person opens Quick Assist, enters the code in Security code from assistant or Code from assistant, and selects Submit.
    7. They select Allow to share their screen.
    8. If needed, select Request control and wait for them to approve it.

If the goal is to chat with a Microsoft support agent through Quick Assist in a browser, that option still exists only through the Quick Assist web app for verified Microsoft support agents. The support agent provides the security code, and it is entered when prompted.

If a previous Microsoft support session was disconnected, the documented path is to contact Microsoft Support again through live chat so a new remote session can be started.

If Quick Assist will not install properly from the Store, try:

    1. Press Windows key + R.
    2. Type wsreset.exe and select OK.
    3. Wait for Microsoft Store to reopen.
    4. Make sure Windows is fully updated.

Use Quick Assist only with someone trusted, because they can view the screen and, if allowed, control the PC.
