    Hello Suzi Love,

I understand how frustrating it can be when the instructions keep sending you in circles.

The AI answer explains the retired email-to-OneNote feature and its Outlook replacement, but I'd like to clarify which button you're looking for.

Are you trying to find the “Set up email to OneNote” button on the OneNote website, or is the “Send to OneNote” button missing from Outlook for Mac?

These are two different features, so knowing which one you're looking for will help us point you in the right direction without repeating steps you've already tried.

For reference, Microsoft explains the difference here:

The [Email] forwarding-address feature was retired in March 2025, so there is no longer an email address to configure; use Send to OneNote from Outlook for Mac instead.^1^

Send an email from Outlook for Mac to OneNote

    1. Open Outlook for Mac.
    2. Select the email in your Inbox, or double-click it to open it.
    3. On the ribbon at the top of the message window, select Send to OneNote.
    4. In the OneNote task pane, choose the destination notebook and section.
    5. Select Save.

The email’s subject becomes the OneNote page title, while its original date and time are retained.^2^

If the button is unavailable or grayed out

The Mac add-in requires a cloud-based OneNote notebook and a Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com account. It does not work through a personal non-Microsoft account such as Gmail.^2^

    Check that:

    • Outlook and OneNote are signed in with the applicable Microsoft account.
    • The destination notebook is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint rather than only on the Mac.
    • You are using a recent desktop version of Outlook for Mac.

This replacement saves Outlook messages directly into OneNote, but it does not provide a general-purpose forwarding address for messages sent from arbitrary email applications.
