Installing or updating Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
Please try the additional methods below.
Perform a Clean Boot
Determine whether a background program or a software conflict is causing the issue.
Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: msconfig
Press Enter
Select System Configuration > go to the Services tab.
(Important) Select and make sure to put a check mark on "Hide all Microsoft services"
Click Disable all.
Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all the unnecessary services running there. Restart your computer.
Please check the support article at the link below for more details.
Please try creating a new local administrator account then check if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, open Settings > System > Recovery.
Few things to check on the PC
Under Fix problems using Windows Update, click Reinstall Now
Once completed, your system will restart.
Thanks for the update and for testing that. Since the issue remains after completely uninstalling Norton, we can rule it out as the cause.
The message you received when starting the Microsoft Edge Update services can be normal, as these services may only run when needed and stop automatically afterward.
I also wouldn't recommend manually deleting files from the folder you found, especially since reinstalling Edge didn't resolve the issue.
Could you please check if there are any pending Windows updates and install them, then try updating Edge again?
Please try the method below if it helps.
Press the Windows key and search for "Add, edit, or remove other users," then open it. Select Email & accounts from the left pane.
Under Accounts used by other apps, check if the same Microsoft account is listed more than once. If you see a duplicate, click each account. One may show only a Manage option, while the other shows both Manage and Remove.
Remove the duplicate account that has the Remove option, then try updating Edge again.
Thanks for checking. Disabling the Norton firewall alone may not be enough, as its real-time antivirus protection could also interfere with the Edge updater.
Please try temporarily disabling Norton Auto-Protect
Open Norton and go to Security or Device Security.
Select Settings.
Under Antivirus, find the Auto-Protect option.
Turn off Auto-Protect temporarily. If prompted, select a short duration.
Open Edge and try updating again through edge://settings/help.
If the error persists, you may also try temporarily uninstalling Norton, restarting your computer, and checking whether Edge updates successfully.
Sorry for the late reply. Please try temporarily disabling or uninstalling your third-party antivirus (Norton Security) to check if it's interfering with the Microsoft Edge update. Let me know how it goes.
