After installing KB5127936, my Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (with receiver) is detected by Windows, works in joy.cpl and in the Xbox app, but is not recognized in any game (tested in Forza Horizon 6 and others). Uninstalling KB5127936 restored full functionality. Windows version: 26300.9711. Receiver: [original Microsoft].

I can confirm the same issue on Windows 11 26H2 with an original Xbox 360 Wireless Controller and Microsoft USB receiver.

Following KB5127936, the controller stopped working in GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, although it continued working correctly in joy.cpl and other games.

Uninstalling KB5127936 immediately restored controller functionality in both Rockstar games.

I have also prepared a detailed report for Microsoft Feedback Hub.

Hi, I also had an issue with XBox 360 Wireless Controller after KB5127936 update. Steam stopped detecting the controller. Uninnstalling update has fixed the issue.

Thanks Joao, wasted several hours trying different games, re-installing drivers etc for the XBOX controller and then stumbled upon this. Removed KB5127936 and now controller is working again 🤦‍♂️

    Hello Joao,

I got the exact same issue as you today after installing the update.

All games using XInput did not detect the controller (tested with Forza Horizon 6 and 20XX)

It was working on other apps (like emulators)

I did the same as you, uninstalled the updates.

    Hi Joao Silva,

Based on your testing, this appears to be a compatibility issue because the controller is still detected by Windows and works in joy.cpl/Xbox app, while games stop recognizing it after KB5127936 is installed. Uninstalling the update restoring functionality further narrows down the trigger.

As a temporary workaround, you can stay on the working configuration and pause updates for a short period. I also suggest submitting a report through Feedback Hub (Windows + F), including your Windows build, KB5127936, Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver, and the affected games.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.

That information will be useful for further investigation, and hopefully an upcoming update will restore compatibility.
