Use Firefox or Edge on the Samsung tablet as a temporary workaround, because a recent matching report found that MSN links opened unrelated articles in Chrome while Firefox displayed the selected articles correctly.^1^
Confirm and work around the issue
- Install or open Firefox or Microsoft Edge on the tablet.
- Navigate to MSN and select several of the same news tiles that fail in Chrome.
- If those tiles open the correct articles, use that browser for MSN temporarily. This isolates the problem to the tablet’s Chrome/MSN combination rather than the MSN account or feed itself.
- If another browser also opens the wrong articles, note the tile headline and the headline or URL that actually opens.
A matching Chrome/MSN report is currently documented, but there is no accepted answer or official notice confirming a permanent Chrome-for-Android fix. Since the phone works correctly, changing MSN personalization or Microsoft 365 settings is unlikely to address this tablet-only behavior.
Report it to MSN
On the tablet’s MSN homepage:
- Select the feedback button at the bottom-right, or open the Settings cog at the top-right and choose the feedback option.
- Include:
- Samsung tablet model and Android version
- Chrome version
- The MSN homepage edition or country
- The headline shown on the tile
- The headline and URL that opened instead
- Whether Firefox or Edge opened the correct article
- A screenshot, if the form permits one
Microsoft states that MSN feedback is passed to its editorial and product teams. The service does not record an email address for this submission, so an individual reply should not be expected.^2^
If the wrong destination is an advertisement or suspicious page rather than another genuine news article, close it without entering information and include the destination URL and advertised brand in the report; Microsoft specifically requests those details for advertising-related problems.^2^
