Where did you get your Pro Plus license? Third party I assume because Microsoft doesn't sell it to direct consumers.

However, if you got it from your organization, you need to contact your organization's IT team.

The Pro Plus product is not designed for home users. It is a volume license, which means it is intended for organizations, not individuals. These licenses are managed by an organization’s IT department and are tied to a contract with Microsoft. Because of how volume licensing works, activation may depend on things like installation limits or periodic validation through an organization’s KMS server. Those processes require IT support from the organization that owns the license. That is why these licenses are not meant to be sold to individuals. Home users typically do not have access to the IT infrastructure needed to manage or maintain them. Unfortunately, some third-party sellers offer these licenses at very low prices. They may seem like a good deal, but they are often resold in ways that violate the licensing terms. Most buyers are not aware of these details until problems happen. If you get this from a third party, I suggest that you contact them and get your money back.

Office Professional Plus should be installed and activated through its applicable business, volume-licensing, or Workplace Discount Program channel—not repeatedly redeemed through the standard consumer Office setup page.

Trying both 32-bit and 64-bit does not address this error because the licensing channel must be identified first.

    1. Check whether redemption already completed

Sign in to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page using the same Microsoft account used when entering the key.

    • If Office Professional Plus appears, select Install there. A redeemed key is associated with the Microsoft account and does not need to be entered again.^1^
    • If it does not appear, use the matching purchase channel below.

    2. If supplied by an employer or organization

Professional Plus is commonly a volume-licensed product. Organization-issued volume-license keys cannot be redeemed as retail Office keys on the consumer setup page.^2^

Contact the organization’s IT administrator for:

    1. The approved Office installer or deployment instructions.
    2. Confirmation that the license uses MAK, KMS, or another organizational activation method.
    3. Access to the organization’s network or VPN if required by its deployment.

For Office LTSC 2024 Professional Plus, administrators deploy the ProPlus2024Volume product with the Office Deployment Tool. A MAK key is placed in the deployment configuration; KMS deployments use the applicable Generic Volume License Key.^3^ KMS clients normally activate automatically after locating the organization’s configured KMS host.^4^

    3. If purchased through Microsoft Workplace Discount Program

This channel has a separate activation process:

    1. Install Office using the Workplace Discount Program download associated with the purchase.
    2. Start Word or another Office application.
    3. On Sign in to set up Office, select the small I don’t want to sign in or create an account link.
    4. Enter the Workplace Discount Program key without hyphens.^5^

    4. If bought from a third-party retailer for personal use

Ask the seller to confirm in writing whether the key is:

    • a retail Office license,
    • a Workplace Discount Program license, or
    • a Professional Plus volume license intended for an organization.

If it was advertised as an ordinary personal retail product but is actually a volume-license Professional Plus key, request a refund or replacement with a consumer edition intended for retail redemption. Microsoft warns that separately sold keys may be stolen, unauthorized, or subsequently blocked, and advises contacting the seller when such a key does not work.^6^

If the seller confirms that it is a supported retail key, use Microsoft’s product-key error guidance or contact Microsoft Support to check whether the key is blocked or was not activated by the retailer.^7^

Do not post the 25-character product key publicly.
