    Hello Joe Linnehan,

First, could you let me know whether the new laptop is running Windows or macOS? Also, please confirm whether your subscription is listed as active at account.microsoft.com/services. With this information, I may be able to support you here before you contact Microsoft Support.

If you still prefer to speak with a live agent, please follow the steps below:

    1.  Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    2. In the search box, enter a short description of your issue, then choose "Get Help"
    3. Scroll down and select Sign in to contact support (please sign in using a personal Microsoft account). Then follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team.

    Tips:

    • Support chat availability may vary by country/region, product, and support hours. If you can't get in touch with a chat agent right away, trying again later or at a different time may help.
    • If the support page directs you to the automated assistant, type “I need a live agent” in the chat.

Thank you so much for your patience!

For a personal Microsoft 365 subscription, live support is typically available through chat.

    1. Go to the Microsoft support contact page and sign in to the Microsoft account that has the Microsoft 365 subscription.
    2. In the search box, type agent support or Chat with an agent.
    3. Ignore the search results and select Contact support.
    4. Choose Microsoft 365 and Office and then Technical Support.
    5. Select Chat with a support agent in your web browser or the Call me back option if shown.
    6. Complete the prompts to open the chat.

For the 0x0 error itself, Microsoft has a resolved issue for Office on macOS where updating Office and ensuring macOS 12 or later fixes Unknown Error 0x0 or License Not Found. If the new laptop is a Mac, update Office first before contacting support:

    • If Office was installed from microsoft.com: open Finder > Applications > Microsoft AutoUpdate and install updates.
    • If Office apps were installed from the App Store: open App Store > Updates and update the Office apps.

If the new laptop is Windows and Office apps are failing to start, update Office from File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
