    Hi Aditya,

I understand your frustration, especially after trying so many tutorials and checking the BIOS repeatedly. Since you have already confirmed that Intel VT-x is enabled, let's focus on VMware and Windows rather than repeating the BIOS checks.

Start with Section 1 if the VM will not power on. If Kali starts but displays a black screen, go directly to Section 2.

    1. If the Kali VM will not power on

Step 1: Check whether Windows is running a hypervisor.

    1. Press Win + R.
    2. Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
    3. Look in System Summary for this message:

A hypervisor has been detected. Features required for Hyper-V will not be displayed.

If the message appears, Windows is running a hypervisor. This is useful information, but it does not prove that the hypervisor is causing your VMware problem. If the message is absent, continue with the VMware checks below.

Step 2: Check the VMware processor settings.

    1. Completely power off the Kali VM.
    2. Open VM Settings > Hardware > Processors.
    3. If Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI is checked, uncheck it if you are not running another virtual machine inside Kali.
    4. Save the settings and try starting Kali again.

This option is for nested virtualization and is not normally required to run Kali Linux.

    Step 3: Update VMware.

Install the latest available version of VMware Workstation compatible with your Windows system, restart Windows, and try starting the VM again.

Step 4: Investigate the actual error before changing Windows security settings.

Pay attention to the exact message VMware displays when the VM fails to start. Errors mentioning VT-x, virtualized VT-x/EPT, Hyper-V, or Device Guard/Credential Guard can indicate different problems.

If the message suggests a Hyper-V or Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) compatibility issue, check Windows Security > Device security > Core isolation > Memory integrity. You can also review Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform, and Windows Hypervisor Platform under Turn Windows features on or off.

Do not disable these features simply because msinfo32 reports that a hypervisor is running. First establish that the error points to a compatibility issue. Disabling Memory Integrity can reduce Windows security, while changing virtualization features can affect WSL2, Docker, and other applications. If this is a work or school computer, consult your administrator before making changes.

If the error does not indicate a Hyper-V or VBS compatibility issue, do not change Windows security settings. Skip to Section 3 and inspect vmware.log to investigate the actual cause.

Step 5: Use the Windows hypervisor boot setting only as a last resort.

If you have confirmed that the Windows hypervisor is causing the problem and the safer steps have not worked, open Command Prompt as administrator and run:

    bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

    Restart Windows and test VMware.

To reverse this change later, open Command Prompt as administrator and run:

    bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

Restart Windows again. Be aware that disabling the hypervisor can stop WSL2, Docker, and other virtualization-dependent tools from working until you restore the setting.

    2. If Kali starts but displays a black screen

If the VM powers on but Kali does not display its desktop, try these steps:

    1. Shut down the VM.
    2. Open VM Settings > Display.
    3. Disable Accelerate 3D graphics, if enabled.
    4. Check that the VM has at least 2 CPU cores, 4 GB of RAM (if your computer has enough memory), and at least 25 GB of virtual disk space.
    5. Under the VM's operating-system settings, select Debian 64-bit or the closest available option.

If you installed Kali from an ISO file, the image may be corrupted. Download a fresh copy from the official Kali website:

    https://www.kali.org/get-kali/

Verify the downloaded ISO's SHA-256 checksum against the official value. Alternatively, try the official prebuilt VMware image.

If Kali still will not boot, check the VM's firmware type (BIOS or UEFI) under VM Settings > Options > Advanced, if that option is available. Back up the virtual machine before changing its firmware type because the existing installation may no longer boot with a different setting.

    3. If the problem persists

Open the folder containing your Kali virtual machine and locate vmware.log. Search for VT-x, VHV, or hypervisor, then examine the lines immediately before the failure. These details can help identify the actual cause instead of relying on repeated trial and error.

You can also consult Microsoft's troubleshooting guide for virtualization applications that do not work with Hyper-V:

I hope these steps help you get Kali running again.
