Hello Microsoft Community and Support Team,
I have been using a Microsoft 365 E5 Developer subscription for several years, and my subscription was recently renewed successfully.
However, I discovered that my OneDrive for Business storage quota was unexpectedly reduced from 5 TB to just 10 GB.
My OneDrive currently contains over 2 TB of important data, and I can no longer access it through either the OneDrive web interface or the desktop application.
I understand that Microsoft has introduced new storage limitations for Developer subscriptions. I respect this change and am willing to migrate my data to a paid Microsoft 365 subscription.
However, I am extremely concerned about losing access to years of stored files, especially since I did not receive a clear advance notification about this change.
I would appreciate clarification on the following:
- Is my existing 2+ TB of data still safely stored on Microsoft's servers?
Why has my OneDrive become completely inaccessible rather than remaining available in read-only mode?
Can Microsoft temporarily restore read-only or download-only access so I can retrieve my existing files?
Is there an official recovery or migration process for E5 Developer users affected by the new storage limits?
How can I escalate this issue to the appropriate Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint Online support team?
My account details:
Subscription: Microsoft 365 E5 Developer
Subscription status: Recently renewed
Previous OneDrive quota: 5 TB
Current OneDrive quota: 10 GB
Existing stored data: Over 2 TB
Access status: Unable to access via both web and desktop application
I am not requesting permanent restoration of the previous 5 TB storage allocation.
My only priority is to recover access to my existing data and safely transfer it to a paid personal OneDrive account without losing any files.
These files represent several years of important work and personal data.
I would be very grateful if a Microsoft moderator or support engineer could help clarify the situation or escalate this issue to the relevant technical team.
Thank you for your assistance.Hello Microsoft Community and Support Team,
