On 27-28 October 2026 My Microsoft Photos app stopped working properly. I uninstalled and was not able to reinstall the app again. Below is my system information.

Windows 11 Pro 23H2, build 22631.6199

Photos package: 2608.1401.18.0

Installation error: 0x80073CF6

Underlying error: 0x80004001 — Not implemented

Failing extension: windows.fileTypeAssociation.progIdGeneration

Photos worked until approximately 26–27 October 2026.

Store reset, DISM/SFC, removal, restart and WinGet installation

have not resolved it. Other Store apps update successfully.

    Hello,

The latest update installed on my computer was showing as Microsoft Windows 11 23H2. I downloaded the newly released Microsoft Windows 11 26H2 version from Microsoft's official website and completed the necessary updates.

The issue has now been resolved.

    For your information.
