This error had come from no where, after a a couple of weeks being away from my computer and Microsoft altogether, when i came back i was logged out of all my Microsoft applications which was so odd to me. I then tried logging back into my Microsoft store, my Xbox app, my one drive and Minecraft but i was always met with error 0x80048820 and sometimes 0x80048823. I've tried resetting my password but hen I use the newly made password it tells me that I've got the wrong one, even if I've just reset it. I've gone through the notion of searching online and asking Microsoft help center but it seems I'm the only one on planet earth who's encountered this problem and hasn't solved it with simply resetting my password.

What I've done:

-Set time and date as automatic and synced

-Reset Microsoft store cache

-I haven't got a VPN

-Cleared cached Microsoft credentials

-For some reason i can still sign in to Microsoft on the browser by sheer brute force when I keep encountering these issues and just keep pressing on and on

-Created a new windows profile, still could not sign in to any Microsoft applications there

Because browser sign-in still works but Microsoft apps on the PC fail, focus on account sign-in state and app-side cached sign-in data.

    1. Use the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper tool first. It is the primary troubleshooting path for Microsoft account sign-in issues and can detect account problems and tell what action is needed.
    2. Since the password was reset but app sign-in still fails, use the Sign-in Helper tool again specifically for the case where the password is known but has stopped working.
    3. If the account shows "You have tried too many times with an incorrect password", stop repeated attempts and use the sign-in helper to check the account state.
    4. If app sign-in keeps looping on this PC, remove stored sign-in entries again from Credential Manager for Microsoft Store and Xbox, then try sign-in again. This matches an accepted resolution for Microsoft app sign-in loops on Windows.
    5. If the issue is specific to Xbox-related sign-in, restart the PC, then make sure Gaming Services is up to date. If needed, in an elevated PowerShell window run:
      • get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
      • start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN Then install Gaming Services from the Store page that opens.
    6. Also make sure the Xbox app is up to date. If needed, in an elevated PowerShell window run:
      • get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxApp | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
      • start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9mv0b5hzvk9z Then install the app from the Store page.
    7. If the account name is suddenly not recognized, or sign-in says the account does not exist, use the Sign-in Helper tool for that specific condition.
    8. If the account has not been signed in to for more than two years, it may have been deleted and cannot be reopened.
    9. If none of the above resolves it, use I need to talk to a customer support agent.

Note: the PowerShell remove/reinstall steps remove and reinstall app components. Use them carefully and only for Gaming Services and Xbox App as listed above.

    Hi Dean Asher Nornizam,

Since the error 0x80048820 affects several Microsoft apps and also occurs in a newly created Windows profile, while browser sign-in still works, this looks less like an individual app or Windows-profile issue.

If the service is already running and the issue continues across multiple apps, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support if Sign-in Helper tool cannot identify the authentication problem.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.

I hope this helps narrow it down.
