Disconnect the JBL speaker from nearby phones or tablets, remove its existing Windows pairing, then place it in pairing mode and add it again.
1. Clear other connections and re-pair
Some JBL devices may remain associated with one device at a time. If the speaker automatically connects to another device, temporarily turn off Bluetooth on that device—or remove the JBL entry from its Bluetooth settings—before pairing with Windows.^1^
Then on the Windows 11 PC:
- Charge the speaker and place it close to the PC.
- Open Start → Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices.
- Find the JBL speaker, select More options (⋯) → Remove device → Yes.
- Turn the speaker off and back on.
- Activate its pairing/discoverable mode using the procedure for the exact JBL model.
- Return to Settings → Bluetooth & devices, select Add device → Bluetooth, and choose the JBL speaker.^2^
2. If the speaker does not appear
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices.
- Under Device settings, change Bluetooth devices discovery from Default to Advanced.
- Put the JBL speaker back into pairing mode and select Add device → Bluetooth again.^3^
If an old JBL entry remains:
- Right-click Start → Device Manager.
- Select View → Show hidden devices.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- If the JBL device appears, right-click it and select Uninstall device.
- Restart the PC and repeat the pairing process.^1^
3. Repair the PC’s Bluetooth driver
Because the speaker works with other devices, continue with the Windows Bluetooth adapter if re-pairing fails:
- Open Device Manager → Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter—not the JBL speaker.
- Select Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
- If Windows finds nothing newer, download the Windows 11 Bluetooth driver for the exact PC or motherboard model from its manufacturer.
- Install it and restart Windows.^3^
Also run Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Bluetooth → Run.
If Bluetooth is present in Device Manager but remains unusable after installing the correct driver:
- In Device Manager → Bluetooth, right-click the Bluetooth adapter.
- Select Uninstall device → Uninstall.
- Shut down the PC, wait several seconds, and turn it back on.
- If Windows does not reinstall the adapter, open Device Manager and select Action → Scan for hardware changes.^3^
If it connects but produces no sound
Open Settings → System → Sound → Output and select the JBL speaker. Windows may pair a speaker without automatically selecting it as the active audio output.^4^
