Suddenly today I can not use microphone when using Teams calling my teammates. It shows a notification that Allow for Teams access to Microphone, I click on Allow. It’s gone. And then can not use microphone. I tried it sometimes but nothing happens. Please find out how to reconnect it.

    Dear Russeval Federico,

Based on your description, it appears that the microphone suddenly stopped working when you call teammates in Microsoft Teams. Even after you select Allow on the microphone prompt, Teams still can't use it.

For better assist, please let me know some information:

    1. Are you using the Teams desktop app (Windows or Mac), Teams on the web, or the mobile app?
    2. Are you connecting through a virtual desktop (VDI) or Remote Desktop?
    3. Does the microphone work in other apps, such as Windows Sound Recorder?
    4. Are you using a built-in microphone, a USB headset, or a Bluetooth device? Did anything change today, such as a Windows or Teams update or a new headset?

In the meantime, please try the following steps:

1.Make sure the mic icon in the Teams call controls isn't crossed out. Also check your headset for a physical mute button or a raised mic boom.

2.Check Windows privacy settings. Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone and confirm these are turned on:

    • Microphone access
    • Let apps access your microphone
    • Microsoft Teams
    • Let desktop apps access your microphone

If they are already on, turn them off, turn them on again, and then restart your computer. On a Mac, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, make sure Microsoft Teams is turned on, and then restart.

    3.Check your Windows sound settings.

    • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
    • Under Input, select your microphone and make sure it isn't muted and the volume is turned up.

    4.Select your microphone in Teams.

In Teams, select Settings and more (…) > Settings > Devices. Choose your microphone by name instead of "Default".

5.Test outside the desktop app: Record a short clip with Sound Recorder and try a call in Teams on the web.

6.If you use a virtual desktop (VDI): Please also check that microphone access is allowed in the privacy settings on your physical computer, not only inside the virtual desktop.

7.Restart and update. Restart your computer and install any available Windows or audio driver updates.

If you need to take a call right away, joining from Teams on the web may work as a temporary workaround.

Please let me know the results of these steps. Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated.

I am looking forward to your response!

If your Teams phone microphone isn’t working, check that it isn’t muted, confirm microphone permissions in Windows, and select the correct microphone in Teams > Settings > Devices. Restart or update your device if needed, or try Teams on the web as a workaround.
