Hi Tim Toohey,

Windows 11 does not appear to provide a separate LifeCam configuration app specifically for the LifeCam HD-3000.

You can check whether the webcam offers a zoom control by opening Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras, then selecting Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000. If Zoom is not listed, the camera or its current driver is not exposing that control to Windows.

In that case, check the video settings in the application where you use the webcam. Some meeting or recording applications may provide their own crop, framing, or digital zoom options.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Forum contributors, including external Microsoft employees, cannot add or modify product features or access Microsoft’s back-end systems. We can only provide guidance based on the features and settings currently available.

I understand that this may not provide the dedicated zoom solution you were looking for, but I hope it clarifies the available options for the LifeCam HD-3000 on Windows 11. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Check Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Cameras → Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000; if a Zoom slider appears under Basic settings, Windows 11 can apply that zoom as the camera’s default, but if it is absent, the HD-3000 is not exposing a zoom control to Windows.

Check for Windows zoom control

  1. Connect the LifeCam and close applications currently using it.
  2. Open Start → Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Cameras.
  3. Under Connected cameras, select Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000.
  4. Look under Basic settings for Zoom.
  5. If available, adjust the slider while watching the preview. The setting is saved for that camera and user account and normally applies when applications subsequently open the camera.^1^

Zoom, pan, tilt, brightness, and similar controls are optional; Windows displays only the controls supported and reported by the camera. If Basic settings or Zoom does not appear, Windows cannot enable that hardware control through a setting or driver option.^1^

Available apps

  • Windows Camera works with connected webcams for photos and videos, but its documented live zoom depends on device support. On a touchscreen, pinch gestures might provide zoom while capturing.^2^
  • There is no currently documented dedicated Microsoft LifeCam configuration utility for Windows 11 that adds zoom to the HD-3000.
  • Windows 11-era HD-3000 drivers are available through Windows/Windows Update; the Microsoft Update Catalog lists packages under Windows 10 and later drivers.[^3^](https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Windows+11++Microsoft+LifeCam+HD-3000 ""Windows 11 Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000" - catalog.update.microsoft.com")

If Windows does not show a Zoom slider, check the application where the camera will be used—such as Teams, Zoom, or OBS—for a crop, framing, or digital zoom option. Such effects are generally controlled by the conferencing or recording application rather than by Windows.^4^

A newer Windows Camera app is also rolling out with software zoom when hardware zoom is unavailable, beginning with Camera version 2026.2608.1.0 in Windows Insider Beta and Release Preview channels. This is conditional on having that Camera version and is not a dedicated LifeCam utility.^5^

To check, open Camera → Settings → About and compare the installed version. Avoid joining an Insider channel solely for this feature; wait for the Camera app update to reach the normal Microsoft Store release if it is not already installed.
