A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
The Add button to worksheet command is not currently available for Microsoft 365 Basic personal subscriptions because Office Scripts remains in preview for Personal and Family plans, and script buttons are excluded from that preview.^1^
The command may appear in Excel for the web but produce no button, matching the behavior described. This is a subscription limitation rather than a problem with the script or worksheet.
Available option
Run the script directly:
- Open the workbook in Excel for the web.
- Select Automate.
- Select View Scripts.
- Open the script and select Run.
For personal subscriptions, Office Scripts also requires participation in the Microsoft 365 Insider program, Internet connectivity, and connected experiences to be enabled.^2^
To use a worksheet button
A supported business or education Microsoft 365 subscription is required. In a supported environment, the procedure is:
- Open Automate → View Scripts and select your script.
- Under Share this script, enable Associate with workbook.
- Select Add button to worksheet.
The workbook must be stored in OneDrive for Business, and organizational sharing policies must permit associating scripts with workbooks.^1^
Use Feedback in Excel to report the unresponsive command, as Microsoft requests feedback for issues encountered during the Personal and Family preview.^2^
