The contact list has moved out of Chat in the current Teams experience; in Teams Free, open People → All contacts to view and manage it.^1^
Desktop or web
- In Teams, select People on the left.
- If People is not visible, select View more apps, search for People, and open it.
- Right-click People and select Pin to keep it in the navigation.
- Select All contacts. From there, select a person to chat, call, edit, or organize the contact.^2^
You can also find someone without opening People:
- Select Search at the top of Teams.
- Search by the person's name, email address, or phone number.
- Select the person in the results to start chatting.^3^
Mobile
- Open Chat.
- Tap New chat.
- Enter the contact’s name, email address, or phone number in To.
- Select the result and begin the chat.^3^
- Check that Teams is signed into the same personal Microsoft account that previously held the contacts.
- In People, open Settings and use the contact-sync option if the missing people came from your mobile device. The People settings also provide access to blocked-contact management.^4^
- Search for each person by email address or phone number. A person’s privacy settings can prevent them from appearing in search; in that case, ask that person to search for and add you instead.^3^
If the contacts appear in Teams on the web or mobile but not in the desktop app, the issue is client-specific. Sign out of the desktop app, close it completely, reopen it, and sign in again. If the list remains empty on every platform while using the correct account, use the Contact us option on the Teams Free support page.^1^
