Because every episode of Supernatural has playback problems on both the TV and PC while other Movies & TV content works, report it to Microsoft Support as a title-specific purchased-content playback defect rather than treating it first as a PC-wide audio problem.
Report the affected title
- Choose two or three example episodes.
- Record for each:
- Season and episode number
- Approximate timestamp where the problem occurs
- PC symptom: playback speeds up and audio becomes desynchronized
- TV symptom: audio temporarily stops and then resumes
- Note that:
- Every Supernatural episode is affected.
- Other shows in Movies & TV play normally.
- The issue occurs on two different devices.
- Contact Microsoft Support, select the options for Microsoft Store/Movies & TV and previously purchased content, and request investigation of the title’s supplied audio/video files. Microsoft specifically directs customers with problems involving previously purchased Movies & TV content to Microsoft Support.^1^ Use the Get Help/contact route here if needed.^2^
A useful report description is:
Every episode of Supernatural is affected in Microsoft Movies & TV, but my other purchased shows play correctly. On my PC, playback speeds up and the audio desynchronizes. On my TV device, the audio cuts out and later resumes. Please investigate the playback assets for this title. Examples: Season __, Episode __, around :.
Before submitting the report—or while waiting for a response—repair Movies & TV once to exclude damaged local app files:
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Movies & TV.
- Select the three-dot More menu > Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Play one affected episode again and check the same timestamp.
Repair preserves the app installation while fixing supported app files. If Repair is unavailable or changes nothing, do not keep repeating it. Reset is a stronger fallback and clears the app’s local data, so use it only if necessary.^3^
You can also check Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates for a Movies & TV update. Microsoft’s Store-app guidance places updating before repair/reset or reinstalling.^4^
Only if the problem spreads to other videos
If other shows or local videos begin cutting out or losing synchronization, troubleshoot Windows audio instead:
- Settings > System > Sound > Output > your active device > Audio enhancements > Off
- Settings > System > Sound > Volume mixer and verify that Movies & TV uses the intended output device
- Run Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Audio
- Update or reinstall the audio driver through Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers
Those checks apply to broader Windows audio failures; they are secondary here because your other Movies & TV shows already play correctly.^5^
