Since the 40-second EC reset did not help, re-enumerate the UCM-UCSI device in Windows, then install the latest FA507NUR BIOS and ASUS chipset-related drivers.
1. Reinstall the UCSI device
- Disconnect all USB-C devices, docks, displays, and adapters.
- Right-click Start → Device Manager.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers and, if present, System devices.
- Find UCM-UCSI ACPI Device or UCSI USB Connector Manager.
- Open Properties → General and note the Device status/error code.
- Right-click the device → Uninstall device.
- If offered Attempt to remove the driver for this device, leave it unchecked initially.
- In Device Manager, select Action → Scan for hardware changes.
- Restart Windows and check whether the warning icon returns.
Uninstalling and scanning for hardware changes makes Windows recreate the device instance and reload its driver stack ^1^.
The timeout message means a UCSI command did not receive a timely firmware response; it does not by itself prove whether the problem is BIOS/EC firmware or hardware ^2^.
2. Update the ASUS firmware and platform drivers
If the warning returns:
- Connect the laptop to AC power.
- Open the model-specific FA507NUR ASUS support page ^3^.
- Verify that the selected model is exactly FA507NUR.
- Compare the BIOS version offered there with the version shown by:
- Press Windows+R
- Enter
msinfo32 - Read BIOS Version/Date
- If ASUS offers a newer BIOS, follow ASUS’s instructions to install it. Do not interrupt power during the update.
- From ASUS’s download center, install the current model-specific chipset and any USB/Type-C or system-control packages listed for the FA507NUR ^4^.
- Restart and inspect the UCSI device again.
This part is important because Windows supplies the UCSI driver, but the USB-C connector logic and ACPI communication are implemented through the laptop’s BIOS/embedded-controller firmware ^5^.
3. Isolate an accessory or port problem
After Device Manager shows no warning—or if the warning occurs only when something is attached:
- Test with nothing connected to USB-C.
- Connect the device directly rather than through a dock or hub.
- Try another known-compatible cable.
- For video, ensure the cable, adapter, and selected USB-C port support the required DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
- Test each USB-C port separately, if the laptop has more than one.
USB-C cables and ports do not necessarily support the same charging, video, USB4, or Alternate Mode capabilities ^6^.
When to contact ASUS
Contact ASUS service if the UCSI warning returns with nothing attached after:
- Device re-enumeration,
- the latest FA507NUR BIOS,
- ASUS chipset/system-control drivers, and
- the EC reset already completed.
Provide ASUS with:
- The exact Device Manager error code and full Device status text.
- Current BIOS version.
- Whether both USB-C ports are affected.
- Whether charging, data, and video all fail or only one function.
- Whether the error appears immediately after startup with no USB-C device attached.
At that point, ASUS must distinguish an EC/BIOS firmware defect from a USB-C controller, port, or motherboard fault. A Windows reinstall is not the appropriate next step unless ASUS or Microsoft diagnostics separately identify Windows corruption.
