A customizable group messaging space within the GroupMe app, designed for seamless communication among friends, classmates, teams, or communities.
Use GroupMe’s password-reset flow with the email address or phone number associated with your account; if GroupMe recognizes it and sends a reset link, set a password and test those credentials on the developer portal.
Try creating portal-compatible credentials
- Open the official GroupMe Forgot Password page.
- Enter the email address associated with your GroupMe account. This may be your Gmail address, but use the address shown in your GroupMe account profile if it differs.
- You can instead enter the associated phone number to locate the account.
- Select Reset password and follow the instructions in the message GroupMe sends. Check the spam or junk folder if it does not arrive.^1^
- Return to
https://dev.groupme.com/sessionand try:- Email: the email associated with GroupMe
- Password: the newly created password
A phone number can identify the account during reset, but the developer page’s email field will still require the account’s associated email address.
Official documentation does not confirm that an account created through Google sign-in can always be converted into email-and-password credentials accepted specifically by dev.groupme.com/session. Therefore, the reset is a supported test, not a guaranteed conversion. Although the regular GroupMe web sign-in page provides social sign-in options, the developer site separately requires signing in to a GroupMe account.^2^^3^
If the reset or developer login fails
- If no reset message arrives, retry with any other email addresses previously associated with the account. GroupMe sends a reset link only when it finds a matching account.^4^
- If GroupMe recognizes the account but the new password is rejected by the developer portal, contact GroupMe Customer Services. Include:
- The associated email address and phone number
- The developer portal URL:
https://dev.groupme.com/session - Whether password reset succeeded
- The exact error shown by the developer portal
GroupMe publishes its support contact path and support hours here.^5^
- GroupMe currently reports that some users are experiencing sign-in failures, so a hanging or otherwise valid login may also be related to that active issue.^4^
After successful developer-site login, an application can be created there; its Details tab supplies the client ID and access token used for API integration.^3^
