OneDrive 1 TB to 5 TB upgrade requirements with Microsoft 365 E3/E5

2026-10-27T09:41:19.92+00:00

Hi,

Does anyone know the current requirements to increase OneDrive storage from 1 TB to 5 TB with a Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license?

Is assigning a single E3/E5 license to the user enough, or are there any additional licensing or tenant requirements?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Erick Lalvay - ITCM Solutions,

Thank you for posting your question to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding increasing OneDrive storage from 1 TB to 5 TB, please also keep in mind that pooled storage limits still apply at the tenant level. Eligible enterprise and government cloud customers should work with their Microsoft representatives for additional storage requirements.

You could refer to the following Microsoft documentation for more information: OneDrive service description - Service Descriptions | Microsoft Learn

For your specific situation, I recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft Support. The support team can verify whether your account and tenant meet the requirements for the increased storage allocation and check whether there are any licensing, tenant, or configuration issues preventing the updated quota from being applied.

Please note that I am a fellow user in the community, so I do not have access to Microsoft’s backend systems or your tenant configuration. Therefore, I cannot verify your account's eligibility from here. A Microsoft Support engineer would be able to review this directly.

If you are a Microsoft 365 administrator, you can create a support request through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.

I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for your time and understanding.
