Your advise did not work

Office 2024 does work on a supported Mac, and activation is completed inside Word or another Office app by signing in with the Microsoft account used for the Microsoft Store purchase—not by activating the downloaded .pkg file itself.

Activate Office 2024

1. Ensure the installation has finished, not merely downloaded:
   • Open Finder > Downloads.
   • Double-click Microsoft Office installer.pkg.
   • Complete the installer and select Close.
2. Open Launchpad, then open Microsoft Word.
3. In the What’s New window, select Get Started.
4. Select Sign in or Already bought Office? Sign in, then enter the same Microsoft account used for the Microsoft Store or microsoft.com purchase. Office should detect the associated one-time license and activate. ^1^

Verify that the purchase includes the Mac license

Sign in to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page:

Look under Products you’ve purchased for Office Home 2024 or Office Home & Business 2024. Office 2024 has Mac editions, but the Mac must be running one of the three most recent macOS versions. ^2^

• If Office 2024 is listed with an Install option, install from that account page and then activate by signing into Word with that same account.
• If the purchase is listed but does not offer a Mac installation, or it is explicitly identified as a Windows-only product, contact Microsoft Store support about exchanging or refunding the purchase. Do not buy another copy until the purchased edition is confirmed.
• If Office 2024 is absent, check whether the purchase was made using another Microsoft account.

If Word came from the Mac App Store

This applies only if Word or Excel was installed through Apple’s Mac App Store. Those versions require a Microsoft 365 subscription and cannot use a one-time Office license. Remove them and install Microsoft’s Office 2024 package instead. ^3^

1. Close all Office apps.
2. Open Finder > Applications.
3. Control-click Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, then select Move to Trash.
4. Return to https://account.microsoft.com/services and download Office beside the Office 2024 purchase.
5. Install the .pkg, open Word, select Get Started, and sign in with the purchasing account.

If an old Office license is blocking activation

If the Mac previously had Office 2016, 2019, 2021, or Microsoft 365—or Word shows the wrong license—remove the stored license before signing in again. This removes Office licensing information, so have the purchasing account credentials available first. ^4^

1. Quit every Office app.
2. Download and run Microsoft’s Office License Removal Tool from the referenced support page.
3. Select Continue, complete the wizard, and enter the Mac administrator password if requested.
4. Open Word and sign in with the account that owns Office 2024.
5. Restart the Mac after activation.

If activation still fails, note the exact message or code shown after signing in—such as No license found, installation limit reached, or a hexadecimal error code—because each has a different repair path.
