Delete Classic Outlook

I just transitioned from Comcast to NEW Yahoo Mail, through Xfinity. Everything went OK and I'm receiving emails. However, I'm trying to delete some of the folders that came over from Outlook, but they keep reappearing again, and again.

I think it best to uninstall Outlook at least for now to see if that 'breaks the link'.

Can I just uninstall or do I have to remove all the folders and emails still sitting in Outlook?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Irene Friedman,

The account may not be listed as “Yahoo.” After the Xfinity migration, the mailbox keeps its original @comcast.net address, even though Yahoo now hosts it.

In File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Email, look for your Comcast.net address instead. You do not need to uninstall Outlook. If your goal is to stop Outlook from synchronizing the folders, remove that Comcast.net account from Outlook.

Before removing it, confirm that your messages and folders are available when you sign in at Yahoo Mail. Removing the account from Outlook removes its locally cached copy from that computer, but it does not delete the Yahoo-hosted mailbox.

Xfinity also confirms that migrated Comcast.net accounts keep the same email address and must be reconfigured in third-party applications such as Outlook using Yahoo Mail settings:

Upgrade your Comcast.net email experience to Yahoo Mail

If the Comcast.net address is not shown under the Email tab, please share another screenshot with any email addresses masked.

    Hi Irene,

You do not need to delete the folders and emails first. Uninstalling Outlook does not delete the mail stored on the Yahoo server. Outlook only shows a copy of it.

Before you uninstall, I suggest checking Yahoo Mail on the web, to confirm the mail you want to keep is there.

The folders keep reappearing, which points to Outlook still syncing them from the account. I would delete any unwanted folder in Yahoo Mail on the web, where the mail lives, rather than only in Outlook. You can also remove the account from Outlook first, then uninstall Outlook.

    Thanks!
