Standard Viva Learning uses Collections for a user’s own grouped courses; create a collection under My Learning rather than waiting for the “no plan exists” message to redirect you.

In the Viva Learning app

  1. Open Viva Learning in Microsoft Teams or on the web.
  2. Select My Learning.
  3. Open the Collections tab.
  4. Select Create, enter a title and description, and select Create again.
  5. Open the collection and select Add content.
  6. Search for and select the courses, then select Add.

Any Viva Learning user can create a collection. It is visible only to you and the people with whom you directly share it; it is not searchable by everyone in your organization.^1^

The reported Add to Plan message is not documented sufficiently to confirm that a standard Viva Learning collection will remove it. Check where that button appears and use the corresponding workflow below.

If “Add to Plan” appears in Learning Agent

Learning Agent plans are generated through a conversation, an assessment result, or a suggested home-page experience—not through the standard Viva Learning Collections page. Open Learning Agent, ask it to create a plan for the relevant topic, review the proposed sequence, refine it if needed, and save it.^2^

To access the agent:

  1. In Microsoft Copilot, select All Agents, search for Learning, and select Add; or
  2. In Teams, select Copilot → Agents, find Learning Agent, and select Add.

Availability depends on your organization’s configuration, licensing, and feature rollout. If Learning Agent or its plan capability is missing, contact your Microsoft 365 administrator.^3^

This is a supported way to create a Learning Agent plan, but the documentation does not confirm that it resolves this specific “no plan exists” error.

If “Add to Plan” appears on Microsoft Learn

Microsoft Learn Plans are separate from Viva Learning Collections. You must:

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft Learn profile.
  2. Create a Microsoft Learn Collection, or copy an existing collection to your profile.
  3. Open your profile’s Collections page.
  4. Copy/convert that collection into a Plan.
  5. Add the plan details and publish it.

The collection’s sections become milestones in the Plan, while the original collection remains unchanged.^4^

If you meant an organization-managed Viva Learning path

A Viva Learning learning path is a curated sequence created for employees. Creating one requires both:

  • A Viva Learning or Viva Suite premium license.
  • Admin or Knowledge Manager permissions.^5^

If those requirements apply, open Viva Learning → Admin → Learning paths, create or open the path, and add its courses. Otherwise, use a personal Collection.

If none of these paths matches the screen, provide the exact app and page where Add to Plan appears—Viva Learning, Learning Agent, or Microsoft Learn—and a screenshot with personal information removed.
