As of this morning, 25 Oct 2026, I cannot connect to any Google service: Search, photos, Drive, etc

I can connect using FireFox

Any solutions out there?

    Test a Google site in an Edge InPrivate window first; if it works there, remove only Google’s stored site data because the failure is isolated to Edge rather than the Windows internet connection.

    1. Test without the existing Edge session

    1. In Edge, select Settings and more (…) > New InPrivate window.
    2. Open google.com, then test Drive or Photos.
    3. If they load, close InPrivate and remove Google’s site data:
      • Open Settings and more (…) > Settings.
      • Select Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data > See all site data and permissions.
      • Search for google.
      • Delete entries for Google, particularly accounts.google.com and google.com.
      • Restart Edge and sign in to Google again.

    This signs you out of Google in Edge but avoids clearing unrelated websites. Microsoft’s broader procedure is History > Open history page > Delete browsing data, selecting All time; use that only if removing Google data alone fails.^1^

    A closely matching earlier report—Google domains failing in Edge while Firefox and InPrivate still worked—was resolved by clearing those Google cookies.^2^

    2. If InPrivate also fails

    Check the browser components rather than resetting Windows networking:

    1. Open Settings and more (…) > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
    2. Allow any offered update to install, then restart Edge.
    3. Test after temporarily disabling Edge extensions:
      • Settings and more (…) > Extensions > Manage extensions.
      • Turn all extensions off, test Google, then re-enable them individually.
    4. If Google still fails, repair Edge:
      • Close Edge for every signed-in Windows user.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Find Microsoft Edge, select … > Modify > Yes > Repair.
      • Repair should preserve browser data and settings.^1^

    Because Firefox reaches the same sites, a network-adapter reset is not the appropriate first action. Windows guidance likewise notes that when connectivity works generally, the issue may be confined to a particular application, website, or firewall rule.^3^

    3. Conditional workaround for signed-in Google sessions

    If all these conditions are true:

    • Google works in InPrivate;
    • it fails only after signing in to a Google account;
    • deleting Google cookies fixes it temporarily, but the problem returns;

    then this resembles an earlier report involving Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC). Its moderator-recommended workaround was:

    1. Enter edge://flags in Edge’s address bar.
    2. Search for Device Bound Session Credentials.
    3. Set Device Bound Session Credentials (Standard) to Disabled.
    4. Restart Edge using the button shown on the flags page.

    DBSC binds signed-in session credentials to a device to reduce session theft.^4^ The workaround came from an earlier Edge 148 case, not Edge 156, so use it only for that matching signed-in/cookie-dependent pattern.^5^ Flags are experimental; return the setting to Default after Microsoft or Google resolves the behavior.

    Edge 156.0.4314.42 was released on October 22, 2026,^6^ but Microsoft’s current known-issues list does not identify Google-site connectivity as a known issue for that release.^7^ If the repair and conditional workaround fail, submit a diagnostic report through Settings and more (…) > Help and feedback > Send feedback, including the exact error displayed on the Google page.

    Hi, @WV Mike

    Since Google sites work in Firefox but not in Microsoft Edge, the issue may be related to Edge's settings, extensions, or cached data.

    1. What exact error message appears when you try to open Google Search or other Google services in Edge?
    2. Can you access other websites in Edge, and do Google sites work in an InPrivate window (Ctrl + Shift + N)?

    In the meantime, try these steps:

    • Restart your PC and test Google sites again in Edge.
    • Temporarily disable your Edge extensions by opening edge://extensions and try accessing Google again.
    • Check whether you are using a VPN or third-party antivirus software with web protection or similar features. Temporarily disconnect the VPN or disable the relevant web protection feature, if safe to do so, and test Google sites again.
    • Clear Edge's cached images and files by opening Settings > “Privacy, search, and services” > “Clear browsing data” > “Choose what to clear”. Select “Cached images and files” and click “Clear now”.

    Please share the error message and results of these tests so I can narrow down the cause.
