Use the Microsoft account sign-in helper with the original email address or phone number; it can provide the appropriate recovery steps or an option to contact an agent for a compromised personal account.^1^
Identify what the three submissions were
The correct next action depends on what appears when you try to sign in:
- The forms were rejected account-recovery requests: Use the sign-in helper above and proceed to its support option rather than simply submitting the same information again.
- The requests are still awaiting a decision: Check the contact email and its spam/junk folder for Microsoft’s response.
- The account says it is locked or suspended: Use the reinstatement link beginning with
aka.ms/shown on that sign-in screen. If the three submissions were this specific reinstatement form, do not submit another duplicate—Microsoft says additional requests may slow the review.^2^ - The password or security information was changed by the attacker: Choose the hacked/compromised-account route in the sign-in helper.
Because it is unclear which form you submitted and whether the requests are pending or rejected, the warning about duplicate submissions applies only to locked-account reinstatement requests—not every recovery case.
Escalate to account support
If the sign-in helper does not offer a workable recovery option:
- Open Contact Microsoft Support.
- Enter compromised Microsoft account and select Get Help.
- Select Contact Support when offered.
- If you cannot sign in with the affected account, use another Microsoft account to initiate the contact.
Support can clarify the applicable recovery process, but agents cannot directly access or change account details or bypass ownership verification.^3^
Have these details ready:
- Original account address and previous passwords
- Xbox gamertag and purchased game names
- Approximate purchase dates
- Order numbers or receipts
- Last four digits of the payment card or the PayPal address used
- A separate, working contact email
Purchase records can strengthen ownership verification, but they do not allow an agent to override the recovery process.^4^
Protect the account and payment method
If access is restored:
- Run a full malware scan before changing the password.
- Change the password to one not used anywhere else.
- Review connected accounts, forwarding rules, and automatic replies.
- Add current recovery information and Microsoft Authenticator.^1^
If there are unfamiliar charges, contact the card issuer or payment provider immediately. Do not post the account address, receipts, card details, recovery codes, or passwords in this public forum. Microsoft Q&A participants cannot access or restore accounts.
