India is not currently listed among Microsoft’s countries with consumer Surface Authorized Service Providers, so register the Surface Laptop 7 online and create a Microsoft mail-in repair or replacement order. ^1^

Before submitting the repair

If the laptop shows no lights, logo, or screen response, Microsoft recommends these checks for Surface Laptop 7:

Disconnect USB devices, external displays, docks, and other accessories.
Connect the power supply intended for the Surface and charge it for at least 15 minutes.
Press Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B once to attempt to wake the display.
Press and hold the power button for approximately 20 seconds, releasing it when the logo appears.

If it remains completely unresponsive, Microsoft states that it needs to be sent for repair or replacement. ^2^

Create the service order in India

For a personally owned device:

Open https://account.microsoft.com/devices.
Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the laptop.
If the laptop is absent, select Register device and enter its serial number.
Select the Surface Laptop 7 and review Warranty and coverage.
Select Next, then complete the service request.
Follow the displayed packing, shipping-label, collection, or return instructions.

Microsoft uses this process to check coverage and arrange mail-in service using certified parts. If the displayed warranty dates do not agree with the Indian purchase invoice, use the warranty-update option and provide proof of purchase before paying for service. ^3^

Do not give the laptop to a shop merely claiming to be authorized. Microsoft’s current consumer provider list does not include India, and authorized-provider availability varies by market and over time. ^4^

If it is a company-owned Surface

The consumer device page is not the correct service route. Your organization’s administrator should create a repair request through either:

Intune admin center → All services → Surface Management Portal → New repair request, or
Microsoft 365 admin center → Show all → Support → Microsoft Surface support → Warranty service & repair → Create service request.

India supports commercial same-unit mail-in repair for eligible Surface Laptop 7 configurations; Microsoft determines eligibility during diagnostics and service-request processing. ^5^

Avoid opening the laptop yourself while pursuing warranty service. Although Surface Laptop 7 has replaceable components, Microsoft recommends repair only by appropriately skilled technicians with the necessary tools and service instructions.

I’m taking “does not open” to mean it won’t power on. If you meant something else, tell me what you see when you press the power button.

Quick checks first

Charge it for at least 30 minutes with the original charger on a different outlet. Check that the charging light or port is working.

Hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release. Wait 10 seconds and press it once.

Unplug everything else (USB devices, docks, external displays) and try again.

If it powers on but the screen stays black, connect an external display. That tells you whether the problem is the panel or the whole system.

Warranty service order: Sign in at account.microsoft.com/devices, select the laptop and check its warranty. If it’s covered, create a service order there, and Microsoft arranges the repair or replacement without you needing a local shop. Register the serial number first if it isn’t linked to your account.

Authorized Reseller Customer Service Centers: Call a center before visiting to confirm it handles Surface Laptop 7, because some only do inspection and recovery. Back up your data first if the laptop can still start.
